Do village claims or personal claims decay and disappear eventually?

If someone has claimed a area, and hasn't been playing for like half a year.. and i want the spot..
can i somehow take over the old claim or just destroy it?

personal claim's can by destroyed if You have village claim next to that personal one, and ofcourse if You have authority points to do this.

Village claims can by also destroyed, look on the forum , there was a topic about it.

Half a year is a long time, this map isn't so old [; but yeah, You have to destroy the claim.
