[no bug] Remote quality spot depletion.

Postby mvgulik » Mon Nov 01, 2010 2:04 am

Not to sure if this is intended, or more bug like. (somewhat unlogical to me.)

- Quality spots drop in quality when digging in them.
- If Quality is below 10q, it will not return a resource.
but: even if your not getting anything. It will be counted as a successful dig -> depleting quality spot.

Observed with a clay spot.
Was digging on the q10 level border. And when I digged just on the outside of it, the q10 border reseeded in the same way as if I was digging just inside the q10 border.

---

Ok, no bug. (adjusted title to reflect that)
Knowing why ... is not something that is completely unimportant ... well, at least in my view.

The quality will go back to the original value if the clay spot is left undisturbed for a while.

Jackard. Your green 'moderator' talk is more annoying instead of assertive.

This may not be a bug but it sure as hell should be considered as such. It's only purpose is to help with griefing a high q spot by digging at the edges.

no righteous man raises his hand against the innocent,
a man need only strike another to make him evil."

Maybe the quality of clay should be considered as a list. In this I mean, if you pick 36 clay but that is not the peak, it should count as picking the q36 clay in the countdown from peak to q10.

Say the peak is q80

Someone griefs you by picking q36

You can pick it down from q80 to q37 but then it will go directly to q10 from q37 after q37 is depleted.

kinda hard to explain

This is how it works, at least I understand it this way:

No matter where you dig, you decrease size and top QL of your whole QL spot.

So, if you dig in the center and you notice that QL dropped it also means the whole spot shrinked a little. Also, it doesn't matter where you dig. If you dig away from the middle the QL in the middle will drop and the spot will shrink aswell. I've noticed this for soil, clay, water and fish.

This is how I understand this. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.
