Am I the only one who doesn't like some aspects of the new clients. I loved before the darkness update that you could look around a village and not be noticed at all. That you could hide behind trees if you were fleeing from a raider chasing you. That an area had to be lit from hearthling made lights be it candles or torches or hearth fires.

While the clients are handy to have, it does take away from a lot of aspects the game used to have.

I do agree witht eh X-ray thing, hiding behind a rock and raping by-passers was pretty funny.

Not to mention, you'd see something move
or.. think you saw it move.. and had to go
check it out, it could be a raider, could be
a bear or boar, but you couldn't just see all
things within your screen, you had to actually
look around =p

Sneaking into bases was the best though.

I always had this idea to line the roads with HFs on either side every 5-10 tiles and take a SS at night with a bonefire at the town square.

I remember the good times when people hid their hf's behind houses and i walked near the house to get the yellow outline to spawn them.
Hiding behind trees for ambushing people, ko them and take the keys, no key alts or lawspeaking alts.

Yeah, the x-ray thing gives such a huge advantage that it's careless not to use it when walking around a forest. It was more fun without it.
The night-vision also makes torches pointless and ruins the stealth factor of walking around during a new moon at night.

those are all excellent points, but don't forget what a punch in the dick mining and cavebulb hunting were before nightvision

But that could be easily straightened up by a lantern for bulb foraging. Mining is ok I would say, as there is no need of longrange view. Also widening the incave light radius of torch/lantern/candle would solve that easily.
Personally I do use night vision even for better view when sun is shining on my ntb from bad angle, and I dont see the NV as much spoiling gameplay.

But the x-ray and hide-objects are the features which are imho imba spoiler.

It's because the main client is such a big piece of shit compared to custom clients there's absolutely no reason for someone to use it. Also since there's no rules for custom clients (like they can do that since they allowed custom clients in the first place) the game will always suffer until the main client actually becomes usable.

there is a simple solution:

make ender the default client, remove x-ray and hide objects, don't allow other clients

wouldn't that work?
