The Edelreich Interregna

Postby Vaku » Wed Jan 29, 2014 6:06 am

Hello country-people of the Edelreich.

Seldom will we have the chance to be so proud, on this, the 30th day since this Union’s birth. For on our thirty days we celebrate the steady growth of our markedly rising population—each of us now sharing in a multitude of council, wiser today than when we crawled separately in the thickets. On our thirty days we celebrate the camaraderie on which this union relies, that so giving were all of you, who put aside selfish pretense, replaced now by our common codified oath made to each other, through natural Hearthland law.

On our thirty days, we have come so far and have seen so much, though despite our achievements on the ground and the achievements between our hearts, we experience a time interregnal.

We are without a sovereign.

It is not out of death of a leader that I make this lament, but by the suspect that among you, that somewhere in these Hearthlands, I suspect that there is a leader brave, obedient to the laws, and loyal to the people of the Edelreich. Let that sovereign among you speak out his or her desire to serve the Union, and let it be by your words that you confirm him or her as Champion of our State.

A Reminder on the Duties of Sovereign of the Edelreich
Per the current constitution, the Sovereign

 Leads in overarching military decisions,
 Make treaties with the consent of only the Council of Lawspeakers

There are other responsibilities, that need not all be shown here. To see clearly the duties of the office, look at the current Constitution of the Edelreich. I'll add more bullet points if there appear to be some common questions to the duties of the Sovereign.

Haha, happy 30 days, nonetheless. :D Would be great if we could do a nice organized feast to celebrate our beginnings. National Edelreich holiday anyone? Everyone take the day off!

Yes but those things aren't public.
It was in the last thread.

I support what Vaku is doing. It is an aspect of emergent gameplay, and a fun attempt at creating some sort of governing structure... even if it's all pretentious, its a fine idea and he is giving new players something to work for m

I do like the idea, but it is not set up correctly in my opinion. I was in contact and still am with Vaku, it seems to separated and a bit unorganized, its basically for what i saw a free for all in a plot of land.

Disorganized yes, that's more or less the point. Too much organization is a bad thing. Like if you take it to a ridiculous extent such as extorting people its a complete overreach. Its a community of people that play together. "The community which has neither power nor riches will always have the noblest principles." Some centralization yes, but not too much.

Except in hnh where that saying ends "For a day or two, Until they get ganked. because they have no power, and principles make poor armor"

I agree with a lot of the source material, and the mission statement of the edelreich, I just don't see the possibility, Because if you guys really take off, and get a vast number of the population under your banner, the rest of the hearthlands will no doubt attack those major population centers, because you have no direction, and thus a less than effective defense.

I'd volunteer to help fix that, but the way it is now, that would be suicide.

Life is suicide. You might as well die fighting for something than for nothing.
