To be entirely honest I didn't know who Demo was, just that some inner circle of ex-Brodgarians had started some village they never opened recruitment to. As Eem said, this is a plan I have had for a while.

To be fair I still know next to nothing about Demo and his group, other than that they just went to war with a major faction and some of his villagers have tried to troll the new players at New Brodgar. I am not sure I want to get involved with his group at all.

i mean, it would be more understandable why you didnt talk to him if you knew him well as you could have guessed his reaction.

Your right, in retrospect I should have contacted him and talked to him about it. That was my mistake in not having done so, and I am certainly at fault for that. However, the tiny sleight in not having done so in no way warrants the offensive and trollish reaction that has come out of their camp, which shows they were not inclined to be friendly in the first place. This is something I have to deal with. All I can do is accept it, move on, and try my best to establish a fun city that people will enjoy living in.

Living in multiple Brodgars my belief is that the best Brodgar is where there are no rules and no rulers. Where people can express themselves. And in my opinion the most successful people in Brodgar were those who put an effort into it and tried to make a living for themselves. Government just doesn't suit Brodgar , But survival of the fittest does.

Then I see no real problem here. I think demo's Brodgar would worry more about raiders and less about an open peaceful village with a similar name, but that's just my two cents.

no offence, but he didn't attack you or your town, you were the first one in with insults, and thankfully demo spoke up and another one of your villagers to ease the situation which was essentially created by you. If you have an issue with the name, you could have easily sent a pm to Robben at the time, and asked if it was possible for the name to be changed. I still don't see what the issue with the name is. your town Brodgar isn't functioning in the same way the original brodgar was, and I said to Demo, I think in the long run that is the way to run a town. But it isn't an open city, with no walls, where anyone can spawn, which is what New Brodgar is. It's essentially going back to how Yolan started the whole thing.

And if you are trying to get someone to listen and take you seriously, swearing and belittling them in every single post, is not the way to go about it.

To me this is a non issue, i get where people are coming from, no one wants their name co-opted, but people need to realise , demo's brodgar is already co-opting the name , and this is just another incarnation/rebirth of a fallen city and ideal.
We should embrace this sister city , not be against it, i look forward to the day, when trust and friendship is made and perhaps a cr is built so we can come help new brodgar when they fall into trouble, just like old world , where more experienced players came to noobtowns aid

I feel for new brodgar, and the boar trolling,the grieving, the throes of having to build up their identity , it reminds me of on w6 brodgar, and i hope you can get palisades and arm your citizens with slings, (free boars) .

And i agree with paris, hands off approach, decentralised government, there to give helping hand , but not bark orders and give demands

Nobody needs to rename anything, and this thread has turned into some crazy hybrid bullshit that derails from the principle of what the game as a WHOLE really needs. This is just a fun way to get people together who wouldn't be together otherwise and create ways for people to keep logging in while things are going stale. Keeping up the player base is way more important than a stupid fucking name that belongs to the game more so than any single player and frankly I am tired of being mentioned in this thread over it. We only repopulated as Brodgar for the same principle here, then WE changed. I can't rename our village, I have spent way too much time getting up our authority on this place to rebuild everything, but their village definitely revolves more around the spirit of the name. Bottom line is that although annoying to adjust to, there is no reason why this shouldn't be old news by now and everybody shouldn't have just moved the hell on, having adjusted their dialog and moved on with life.

This thread is about having a neutral place for people to meet and socialize and have something different to do. Farming gets fucking boring after all.

Please stop calling this "Demo's Brodgar", it is not my city. I have LS because I'm logged in the most. Other than that we have no true "ruler" and very few rules, one of which is not screwing over other village members. The shit posted in this thread is doing exactly that though, forming a view of hostility about us that doesn't suit the village. After all, this is the exact type of city that we came from. Other people should have the chance to do the same if they would like.

The back story on our "war" is more than what it has been made out to be. Our final straw in not opening was Ainran/Dis breaking in during construction and blasting things we bought or worked hard to put together as public resources. I told them in our village thread that I would one day be at their door. I found their clay node and one of the node's "owners" admitted that they were present during that raid when asking me to back off of the node. Naturally, after all of the times that they had griefed us in the past we were willing to have a little bit of fun with the situation, considering all of the fun that has been had at our expense. The person who posted the "war declaration" contacted me when I created the first post about the new city and said he would like to defend the city, then broke in alongside JC and his crew. Granted, my political influence - or lack thereof - is limited and few actually know me so very few can vouch for me or the village's actions or anything, but our motives are pure and we are not aggressive. More like that video of the bully getting a little jab back from that nerd he had been tormenting for years. Doesn't mean the nerd is going to turn into a bully, just means that the nerd can walk with his head up for once instead of kicking rocks and not stepping on cracks in the sidewalk. I don't have any personal negativity toward any person in this game, just want to have a little bit of my own fun as well

At any rate, Brodgar villagers - let the stupid shit go. I'm "Harry Nipps" at the new village, haven't logged in for a day or so but I'll be there. And robben, get my skype info from Eemerald or ramones or somebody and get in touch with me. I still wouldn't mind giving a hand with this project.
