Wiped out village?

Postby Arcticil » Fri Mar 21, 2014 9:08 pm

So I made my first character and hopped on, only to discover I was right next to a rotting palislided village. Empty houses, empty nests. The creepy thing was, there was full crops and atleast a dozen skeletons in the perimeter. Outside a rune saying "FOGHORN LEGION" was here is touting the massacre. Anybody know who's village this is? I may stick around and use it as a temp base, since it's loaded with chicken meat. Not to mention a nearby runestone right outside says "Everybody must pay their taxs."

When we were young the future was so bright
The old neighborhood was so alive
And every kid on the whole damn street
Was gonna make it big and not be beat

Now the neighborhood's cracked and torn
The kids are grown up but their lives are worn
How can one little street
Swallow so many lives

Chances thrown
Nothing's free
Longing for what used to be
Still it's hard
Hard to see
Fragile lives, shattered dreams
Well what is this that I can't see
With ice cold hands takin' hold of me
Well I am death, none can excel
-Ralph Stanley, O Death!

Abandoned villages are all over the place, now. I now regularly visit an abandoned one near me, with a broken Bwall, animals running around, skeletons everywhere. I met a few other hermits near me with the same idea. They left meager supplies not worth taking, but the best in the world to a lonely hermit.

It really saddens me when I see all these raided places. I always imagine each of them had their own story, their own unique people, and each one was crushed, and I think back to all the villages I have been in that had the same fate, how depressing it was, how much it just made you want to stop playing forever, abandon your comrades. That each village had an LS, and friends who he would never talk to again after they quit. How everything I find and grab up for myself was once crafted by someone long quit, that every bone I grab was once hunted by someone, each craft made by someone, foragable found by someone. Maybe some are ending with me, and maybe some will continue when my home is found raided by a scavenger.

S'yeah.
I vote this the most depressing thread on this forum so far. Anyone else?

A pali or Bwall doesn't decay if it's in a claim, so they would have had to bash the pali or ram the Bwall to destroy the claim.

You could try to repair the wall and take it for yourself and clean up the place and then place a claim on the entire area.
