alchemy mishaps
poisoning
exhaustion (some tasks your character will not pause to drink and will literally work themselves to death)
starvation

1) Not possible if you using any boat (umazing discovery)
2) Not possible if you know how cave-in mechanic is working, very low chance if you want to yolo your first ore piece (swap to spring and run away) or just use natural supports (no risk at all!)
3) Insanly low chance if you have custom client(and you MUST have it if you play this game) with alarms and tree hide option. Clifs/cave and even deadly water can save you most of the time. There is even spell to stop fight it's quite expensive, but devs gladly gave you exp at the start.
Dungeons are dungerous, wow. Call friends and you will cleave through without problem (or all die togerther fighting until last breath, thats fun too). You can just not go inside if you not ready, shocking.
4) Don't drink anything that you put at your washing machine okay?
5) It's good idea to not disturb the snakes, ranged weapon or cart can help a lot.
6) Custom clients have alarm, but from all of this, afk could be a real killer. Chance that Golden Eagle will fly over you base, agro on you and execute after KO it's not zero persent, so don't afk outside, haha.
7) People told that starvation death was once, but it's usually once per world during pvp encounter. Most time when someone who really good was cought outside unprepared, chasers are good too and victim has no reinforcemnet or other help.
Dying from starvation when you was not chased is not possible, coz food is everwhere nowdays. Even at winter trees have fruits now, so it's just not possible to starve.

Sure, everything requires at least some knowledge of the game, but most people don't die in real life because they forgot how to get out of a chair and starved to death.

I have come within 13 points of dieing from adder bites; within 15 points of death from a cave-in (my favorite horse was killed); five walruses attacked my rowboat, I survived with 18 points. A friend was killed in our mine when eight green globs popped out of the wall and blocked his path, he killed five before they took him down. I've known three people killed by trolls, and one killed by something in a dungeon in a cave.

you're genuinely not real
how about you try to learn the game LOL
slimes dont even execute you when they down you, literally just hearth home it gives you a giant fucking pop-up when you KO. this is like complaining about checkers while you're trying to fit as many pieces as you can in your nose.

As many has pointed out, many of these things do not actually kill you. They knock you down. BUT I agree that a PVE focused H&H should make more things like this actually kill you. Like someone else said before about traveling around should be more dangerous, I'd enjoy the game more being scared of being mauled to death by a boar rather than neo-nazi laughing about killing people weaker than themselves. I think the game would be more sellable by making it a pure PVE experience.

"literally just hearth home "

When the slimes attack you cannot hearth away. You can easily kill several if you've room to fight, but if you're in mining gear and eight pop out of the wall blocking your escape ...you're in trouble.

And yes, AFK and inattention have killed many players; and how many newcomers meet their demise trying to swim too soon.

But my point is PvP is not required for this game to be dangerous, there are many ways to die without having to worry anyone you meet will kill you "because it's fun". Many of these things are not a major issue for experienced players; but we were all noobs once.

You can die if you go afk in mmo!

That's enough hardcore mechanics, mate. Kids won't have any sleep if you tell them about starvation!

Are you trolling or something? Slimes got you surrounded - they KO you - you tp to hearth with some wounds - you're alive.

KO doesn't equal death ffs.

Most of the stuff you've mentioned before are also ridiculous to die to, you need to actually try quite hard to die to a cave in, for example. It KOs you dealing some damage. First several floors cavein damage is not enough to kill you, and if you've managed to get to lvl 5 and you still haven't figured out how to avoid cave-ins... well...

If, on the other hand, you go mining when you've got 10 hhp left and you mine without a support on an unknown tile OR you come to the rock with shit inside and you willingly break it and get surrounded and die from concussion dmg... Your caretakers should avoid giving you bowls of soup or you might drown in those.

You do NOT get knocked down and if you do you are lucky if you survive. Most animals past boar will maul you after they KO you so a KO is death unless you have friends.

There's lots of situations where if you do things wrong late game you will end up with very old characters dying. Once you learn everything you can usually not die but there's plenty of big animals that will destroy your shit if you haven't spent 10,000 hours playing and know exactly what you're doing.

What? You do not get knocked down by what? By a cave in? Yes, you do. That's exactly what happens when a cave in rock falls on you. You lose all your shp, you get some hhp damage + you get concussion hhp damage from the KO event itself.

Most big animals have a chance to remain in combat with you after KO. Every time they attack you they roll this chance again. You make it sound so dramatic lol, "you're very lucky to be alive after a boar KOs you!" - no, not really. I've been KOd by a mammoth several times, never died.
Iirc slimes don't even roll that "remain in combat" chance at all.

You make it sound MUCH worse than it actually is.

Slimes don't even spawn anymore from a wall, you get the mystery mob box spawn first
