There is a loud minority who tries to distort the truth and reality on the forums - as always. The only thing those ppl want is keeping stuff as is + make it harder to evade the gang / death.

There was that nice comparison to Albion - gatherer set. Useless in offence, pure escape tool. Potions. Food. Solo worlds / instances / colored zones.
EVE Online? UO? IDK, what are other examples where both "permadeath" is on and there is still a way to not get your ass handled as a carebear?
Anybody sane would say that "AO devs just want to make it a generic farmville"? Ofc not. Why cant we have good stuff in H&H? God knows.

im not claiming that the pvp system is perfect (or very good lol), im just saying that there is inherent value to having pvp in haven and removing it would be against the spirit of the game imo. Someone compared it to Albion, which I feel like does open world pvp absolutely perfectly, haven could definitely learn a lot from some of the ways in which Albion handles ganking/pvp in general. But I also concede that Albion has way more people working on it, makes way more money, and is a completely different game fundamentally.

let s be real, devs are not _working_ on the game at all. In a sence 40h input a week or some value delivered over 2 weeks game is in life support mode.

I mean sure but this game is clearly just a passion project for the both of them, so I guess I don't really understand the ongoing sense of resentment toward the devs. Really my biggest issue is the lack of communication and frustrating/impossible to predict timeline of resets and patches lol. Generally I agree with your sentiment though

there's this recurring sentiment lately that people have that every game needs to be constantly updated forever to be worth money or time. half of all the singleplayer games in my steam library have some guy very earnestly saying "hasn't been updated in 3 years, dead game, don't buy". the developer of fear and hunger 2 mentioned he was working on a minor content patch a little over a year ago and half of the steam discussions is people warning others not to buy the game becomes the completed singleplayer RPG hasn't been updated since 2023.

i can understand expecting more from an MMO but other than the pvp this game has more than enough of a gameplay loop to compete with vintage story or any other similar game.

That sentiment makes perfect sense in the context of Haven, which is explicitly marketed as an MMO, is still supposedly in an in-progress “alpha” state according to the main site, and uses a subscription/patch hat model for funding. Honestly it would be weird not to expect further patches and consistent engagement from devs.

being an mmo/having a subscription service only necessitates keeping the servers online and the game playable.

as far as it calling itself an alpha, i don't consider any "early-access" "alpha" "beta" label automatically accurate. there are plenty of beta or even full released games that are clearly not in a playable state, and i consider haven to be in a perfectly solid state (NOT counting pvp mechanics) regardless of what the website about page says.

my point being that while its true they should pick a side and either work on making pvp workable and fun for anyone involved or concede it's too difficult to balance right and idk give people private servers, the sentiment they don't do enough or the vitriol about them not doing content updates every single week are moronic because it's practically a finished game, at least by the current standard for this type of game

Probably on here but can't find it. Is this world going to have a character wipe?
