Game Development: Sled Yule

Postby jorb » Sun Dec 21, 2025 10:11 pm

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Added the ability to ride "Primitive Sled"s. Pull it to the top of a high hill, and bomb's away!
  • Added "Primitive Backpack Extension", a simple piece of equipment carried in the "Shoulders" slot which adds 1 extra slot, scaling as normal with quality.
  • Added "Twist Bread", simple flour/bread recipe made by a fire.
  • Added "Moundwood Bough", a wood bough picked from "Mound Tree"s. Came up here.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • Inventory extending items are no longer automatically unequipped, when auto switching gear, if unequipping them would cause you to become "Overloaded".
  • Re-enabled the fix we attempted last time, allowing you to put curiosities on "Study Desk"s belonging to other, offline, characters.
  • (Updated) Client now indicates focused windows by highlighting their title text.
  • Action cursors (Lift, Fish, Plant, &c) and placement modes can now be closed/canceled using 'Esc'.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • Fixed a bug by which some wound treatments would show their quality percentage, rather than the number of wound points they can heal.
  • Effect played when disappearing in thicket is now the effect played when kicking up leaves, rather than the logout effect, to hopefully alleviate confusion.
  • Added stacking to: "Whale Barnacles" (they now also go in "Creel"), "Common Starfish", "Seahorse", "Crab Claw", and "Uncrushed Husk".
  • Moved "Meat Stuffing" recipe to "Sausage Making".
  • Reduced study time of "Wildflower" to 1/4, and gave it a mild buff in LP/h.
  • Reduced the FEP/Hunger ratio of "Boiled Mussels".

As always, if you liked what we did here: Support the patch.

Today's Patch Items, for the fair pricec of $5, $7, and $9 respectively, are the "Cookiecap", "Gingerbread Crown", and "Chimney Stovepipe".

Store Description wrote:Image$5 A cap so iconic that its very name has become a byword for 'a new and inexperienced celebrant of the season'.

Store Description wrote:Image$7 This hat crowns you, in seasonal splendor triumphant, the Candy King! All hail the Candy King!

Store Description wrote:Image$9 A festive portal to joyous dimensions beyond, through which the Jolly Giver may enter your thoughts, and prayers.

All Bronze subscribers have been awarded the "Cookie Cap", free of charge, all Silver subscribers have also been awarded the "Gingerbread Crown" free of charge, and all Gold subscribers have also been awarded the "Chimney Stovepipe", free of charge.

In the Pipe
-----------------------
  • With this patch we will be heading out for some R'n'R over the holidays. Thank you to all who helped make 2025 a much better H&H year than we did or deserved! Best wishes to you and yours for wonderful holidays, and see you again in the new year. Merry Christmas!
  • Our primary development direction is toward object-controlled-objects.

Those fixes sound kind of poggers.

New sleds mechanic will lead to abuses with scripts in pvp. If you didn't already knew it.

Seems way too situational? Unless you plan to specifically PvP on top of a mountain?
