Game Development: Coq au Arch

Postby jorb » Fri Apr 24, 2026 12:07 am

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Added "Stone Arch Tunnel", a larger tunnel made from stone.
  • Added "Henpecked", wound given by birds when you attempt to raid their nests.
  • Added "Coq au Vin", food.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • Refined some interactions for the "Produce Sack"s; When carrying and emptying a "Produce Sack", it moves to a held item on your cursor if able. The held cursor item should now more generally also support operations previously only available to the carried sack, e.g. drawing from "Tar Kiln"s or "Sawmill"s, drawing from other sacks, &c.
  • Fixed auto-stacking in equipment containers ("Creel", "Poacher's Pouch", &c). Items in them should now auto-stack properly much like they do in the normal inventory, quite simply. Yay!

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • May have a fixed a bug by which higher order map segments would not get properly discovered when discovering lower order map segments.
  • Equipment hotkeys now toggle the equipment/unequipment of tools/weapons, rather than simply equip them.
  • Nerfed "Corndolly Lantern"
  • "Seasponge" can be placed in "Creel"s. "Sponge" stacks.
  • "Disgusting Tapeworms", "Wool" and "Grotesque Tumour"s can now be placed in the "Poacher's Pouch"
  • Character should no longer stop auto-mining when not planning to mine out unsupported tiles. Notable that the character would sometimes stop for no reason when excavating tunnels.
  • Can now plant "Grapes" directly, without having to press or eat them.
  • Buffed slightly the drop expiry timer on "Entrails" and "Intestines" as suggested here.

As always, if you liked what we did here: Support the patch.

Today's Patch Item, for the fair price of $7, is the "Knife Juggler's Hat".

Store Description wrote:Image$7 The terrible danger confronting the juggler, is the risk that they, upon dropping the first ball, eventually come to drop them all.

All Gold subscribers have been awarded the "Knife Juggler's Hat", free of charge.

In the Pipe
-----------------------

Enjoy!

What are the plans going forward, Jorb?
We're about 6 weeks out from the 6 month mark for 16.1.
I'd like to see Haven numbers pick up again - It's been a *long* time since this game has had a summer fresh world.

These patches are starting to look lighter, like you've often pushed while working on a new world.
I'd like some time to build momentum towards a new world if that's where we're headed in the foreseeable future.
