Game Development: Village Bomb

Postby jorb » Mon Jul 20, 2026 11:45 pm

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Reworked the handling of membership in political entities, primarily affecting villages.
    • It is now possible to be a member of multiple villages.
    • All political actions specific to a particular village (or Realm, technically) have been moved away from the action menu to buttons, instead, in the "Kith & Kin" window, where you can now select the entity which you wish to manage in a dropdown menu.
    • Characters can now be described to Villages just as you would describe them to another character. (Simply select the person in your buddy list -> Describe -> Click the Village Idol) This allows villages to set and manage permissions and groupings for non-member characters. "Invite" permissions in the village are required to describe a character to it.
    • Realms have technically been reworked in that their actions have also moved from the action menu, but it is not possible to be a member of multiple Realms, nor is it possible to describe characters to Realms.
    • Learning Points earned by a character who is a member of multiple villages will be split evenly between them.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • Reworked "Field Cairn"s a bit
    • Can now be administered while you are on its plot, sparing you the trouble of walking up to it.
    • Can now be initiated for plot placement purposes without walking up to it.
    • Made them slightly easier to destroy.

As always, if you liked what we did here: Support the patch.

Today's Patch Item, for the fair price of $7, is the "Bomb Cap".

Store Description wrote:Image$7 Whatever else can be said about this cap, it is pretty clear that it is, indisputably, the bomb.

All Gold & Silver subscribers have been awarded the "Bomb Cap", free of charge.

In the Pipe
-----------------------

UPDATE YOUR CLIENTS... for the various changes to the Village/Realm UIs to work.

Enjoy!

is it me only or the game window doesnt remember size very well, since a couple updates ago, you have to manually resize every time

seems Client.java never saves resizing because theres no resize events?

Would have been useful for Whatever Bay when it was still around but hey it shows promise for future megavillages to have better organizational methods
