I remember a bunch of this kind of crap from back in my MUD days, but the first time I ran into it during a paid game was EQ around 2000. Devs fucked up and made some crap in an expansion, didn't realize the extent of their own design, and a power guild found it, ran it up for all it was worth, and then got banned "because." They did nothing wrong, but Verant was (and still is) too scared of other players looking to try to exploit a bad design.

If all that has been done is a tree nuked to stop this for now, then I'd say that it really sucks for those that worked to put the mechanics from use into abusive, but nobody has gotten banned (yet). Last time this happened, a whole realm got close to reset (DIS). Time before that a world got completely reset (DIS, w4).

lol dis were botting authority hard with overlapped realms and like 100 alts spamming exp events i believe. we were manually questing for countless hours using good roads, hardly comparable

Me again, in rl law is changing, this situation is same, feel sorry about it, but nothing to do with, from today its ilegal. Anyway when you can expose someone for bugusing you can use it against him.

IRL laws don't get implemented by punishing a person who didn't break any laws, then saying "oh btw guys... yeah we decided that's illegal haha". Stop trying so hard to defend this ridiculous game moderation ethic.

imagine the law saying hey you can smoke weed in public and while youre smoking weed in public they come up to you and are like "haha its illegal again throw this guy in jail" thats essentially what happened.
see homo sexuality trending,. do not do that.

If the bug they were targeting was commune with nature then it seems weird to me that they decided to lead a Divine Intervention against Gerdgen. Targeting a specific quest giver in this case seems out of place and odd.

That being said if being able to cast multiple commune with natures at once is the reason for the Intervention, then that seems wrong itself. All that did was save a few moments of time (tedium, its a feature! :( )that would have otherwise been integrated as a client feature. It's such a minor thing that to a lot of us its not even considered much of a bug, if at all. It wasn't nearly as critical to the lp gain as one might think. The network built up from questing over time and the current scaling of quest rewards from charisma is the leading cause of massive lp/xp gains and the devs have been made well aware of that.

Overall, this just feels like an out of place Divine Intervention instead of what could have been a simple fix in the next patch. It just seems like a gross overreaction to people thinking there was a magical LP bug going around when that is not close to the truth. LP will continue to raise as it has been, even if they now just have to commune one by one. Its more an issue with game mechanics than any single bug. -- Much like suicide for credos.

So can safe palisades be considered a bug that you can remove? Like building walls is a mechanic of the game and people abuse the hell out of it.

AD does it too so it's fine

If not fine, though, should probably nuke everyone who ever did anything except LARPing, considering powergaming is not intended in the first place
