I think if you imagine the game completely without any siege system, that would very much not be an improvement. Even if sieging is used seldom, it's still important to get it right.

Then take back the cost of cairns. Because that makes people trying to destroy and replace the “grandfathered in” exploiters have to fight an even more unfair battle than before. They’ll be destroying 2-3 cairns that costed nothing to build 1 expensive cairn.

And honestly. I remember last world some group exploited and you punished them by cutting their tree down that had nothing to do with it. You’re afraid to give a fair punishment now?

First you whine about cairns costing too little, now the devs make a change for you and you whine about them costing too much.
I think you're just salty you lost some shitty cairn war and are bitching for the devs to remove them for you xD

Make removing a tile damage the adjacent walls to 5% health (95% damage) and define that level of disrepair as easily hand-bashable (15 seconds with reasonable strength), though while on an active claim only possible with vandalism permission (not via criminal acts).
Destroying such a damaged segment by hand will only damage (as above), but not completely destroy, any adjacent ones.

Perhaps. I don't like the introduction of claim magic to it, though.

I honestly don't get your problem with claim magic, regarding walls it already exist with being unable to build them (which is a good idea and should stay) so where is the problem with eg. giving badly damaged wall segments a 'dismantle' flower entry (in addition to the 'extend') that would be policed by the same thing that prevents the 'extend' from happening (and spread the ability to the adjacent ones, with a 'repair' option to remove that flag and bring health back up quickly)?

This change is nothing. I think the cairn change is a good idea, but shouldn’t be implemented until they find a way to “fairly” revert any past exploits.
The siege update is upsetting because they’re adding layers of complexity to a broken system that only requires one thing to be fixed and that’s the one thing they didn’t do.

When they fixed vaults in legacy they went around nuking vaults they could find. What’s changed?

It's ugly, frankly. It also tends to incentivize setting up weird claim structures for weird purposes.

Granger wrote:regarding walls it already exist with being unable to build them (which is a good idea and should stay)

I'm not sure the presence of some ugly things is a good argument for adding more of them. That being said, it's not like there isn't some merit to your suggestion, so I may consider it. Reluctantly, though.

Is some little patience really so much to ask for?

Mario_Demorez wrote:When they fixed vaults in legacy they went around nuking vaults they could find. What’s changed?

1) The firm knowledge that that was an exploit. I'm more ambivalent about the things you speak of.
2) We had actually pre-announced that for, like, weeks before I went around nuking some of them.
3) The relative poor state of repairs in Legacy made it feel more reasonable to go around and do arbitrary stuff.
