Once again, the glorious state of Oppidia stands morally sound in the face of her hypocritical enemies. We remain a city of science and reason, making only observation of the existence of such dark magicks. We will continue freely spreading our alchemick knowledge.

Does Dig Deeper HM state that only one player may dig deeper at the same time?
Is there any indication that this shouldn't be done?

No!

So it's a game feature until such statement has been made (or you actually fix the code so it can't be done).

Who failed their duty to make the game secure?
Not these players who you banned.
Personally, I'm happy they got banned however in principle, it's your fault, not theirs.

Happy Monday!

The HM states, "The cost of Digging Deeper doubles each time the well is dug deeper.", which means anything that is used to negate the increase in its cost is a bug. Exploiting a bug for personal gain is inherently against the rules.

The fault is theirs.

Holy moly!

Thanks for investigation and quick actions. I am happy that you guys took it seriously and managed to fix the bug even if you were on holidays

Since we invest a lot of time in this game Im very happy that devs take care of their game. In my opinion all accounts that took part of this should be perm banned and all hq water and things made of it should be wiped out.

I think anything linked to their water being wiped would do more harm than good, but this is an assumption on my part not knowing who may have purchased the water and how they might react to having everything made from it deleted.

For instance, what would happen to the trees, logs, blocks, branches, boards, rabbits, chickens, berries, nuts, seeds, forage/gardening items and all their subsequent offspring? What if any one of these items happened to be put in a trough and fed to livestock? What if these items made were then sold and distributed throughout the world? How deep do you really want to go? At that point you're harming the rest of the world.

I understand I'm using the slippery-slope fallacy, but the shoe fits. Don't punish those that were duped into buying something that was tainted by someone else's misdeeds. You might as well world reset at that point.

Why am I the only one that seems to think forward on all of these things? Everyone else seems so... one dimensional...

I take issue with the "there's no indication that this shouldn't be done part". It's not as if players lack a strong sense of what is an intended gameplay mechanic and what is aberrant. Let's be real here; They knew full well ("Well"... hehe) what they were doing, and we all know that they knew. Sure you can larp as if "hurr-durr we had noooo idea", but I mean... that's not a serious argument, and we all know that, right? :)

That being said: I agree with you! In the final analysis this is of course on us! (Doubly true if it turns out that this has indeed been reported previously! No recollection of that, would love to see the receipts, citation needed, I can't prove the negative that it wasn't reported.)

All bugs are ultimately our fault, and hence we do err strongly on the side of leniency. The vast majority of exploits we learn of are quietly patched with no further action.

Obviously so, but there -- evidently! QED! -- has to be at least some negative incentive to actually report critical bugs like these, rather than going wild with them.

I can't really be arsed to read anything else in this thread besides this

Can someone show a PM/DM about this please?

I don't see jorb or loftar denying it hasn't been reported either, but then again there's some retards I refuse to trust whenever they say "i rEpOrTeD tHiS 12 yEaRs aGo" haha

Ban is nice, account termination would be better, for sake all those poor hermits extorted of their green hero hats.

Good job, keep hafen safe and clean!
