also this, do not forget the valve hat

No joke, you should actually do this, although don't call it valve because y'know, copyright. But give it as a free hat to anybody who logs in via steam. You will get more steam algorithm magic invisible points for the engagement of installs & runs

this shit is how some games legitimately pop off

do this, every steam user knows this image. Would be popular

I have to say, I agree. Removal of winter was lame.

Essentially the experiment is canceled. Will it be just another wipe and the possibility to login the game via Steam, without registering on the site?

w15 start was pretty smooth, hopefully w16 won't be different

Guess that depends on where you spawned. I spawned the first day with two dead hearthings laying in front of me, no idea who or what killed them (both were clothed) but scurried away quickly and moved HF as soon as I could. Put up four claim posts in twelve days, each destroyed when I logged back in. Anything not in inventory would be stolen, no matter where i holed up for the night. Gave up and left, returned a month later, wandered/rowed far from there before finally settling down.

I'm just the opposite. Was hoping for longer worlds, perhaps two years, with longer winters.

If possible, I'd like to run only one server, but we'll see. I think it would suck a fair bit to add more servers after the initial one(s) have launched, so I would really like to avoid that if at all possible.

Not sure how rough the logistics for this are, but be ready to launch new servers within hours of the first one. That will make it a lot more palatable than doing it like, a week later. Especially if people can't actually get in the first server.

Be very careful with such a plan. Years ago I played a game which opened its first server in January, then opened a new server every two weeks for the next two years. By the end of the first year the couple of newest servers had about three thousand players each, the oldest servers had about 300 each. They pulled the plug on the game after six years, at which point the most populous servers had less than twenty players each (one server I was on had three players left).
