I mean, that's definitely true for /some/ PVE. Like it's probably good that there isn't a cheese for bat dungeons. Doing a bat dungeon is a cool once per wipe event that EVERYBODY shows up for.
But bears/mammoths/moose are like generic level 5 mobs you have to kill 10,000 of in any MMO. Haven usually only has like 200-400 people online, and it's not exactly easy to find PUGs. If you login to hunt bears, but your village doesn't have enough people online for that you're probably just going to logout. You can see how that would just death spiral villages without rly adding anything positive.
