huh? "doing whatever you want" is the main appeal of any sandbox game.

Austinh15 wrote:Why (with only minor exceptions) should the forums be any different?
Also why do all of you put so much value in the moderation of a forum that maybe get 10 to 30 posts a day when the actual game itself is filled to the brim with stuff FAAAAR worse than what we can post here.

I do think the type of rhetoric I assume you're referencing is just as bad whether it's on the forum or in-game. However, I would think it's more difficult to manage in-game moderation than it is to handle moderation on the forum. I did bring up a similar topic before though:

Kaios wrote:I didn't mean bad words are the only issue when I mentioned mature content. Another example, what is stopping anyone from uploading goatse and putting that on a snekkja or knarr sail? Do the devs have a method to monitor or filter the images that get uploaded and used in-game? Pretty sure it's a crime to expose a minor to pornography.

Doesn't seem like a good idea to allow players to upload images of QR codes either or other suspect content which might lead to theft of personal information or malware. I guess custom clients/workshop content sort of relates to that as well, but that's a separate issue.

Austinh15 wrote:Why does any of this effect you all so much. Why can't you just smile and go "Wow that's super dumb and you're retarded" to whoever you disagree with and move on?

Says the guy that was just on a campaign to get someone banned not only from the forum but the game as well. Right back at you buddy.

Remember when I said that there are legit cases where someone must be moderated? Child endangerment is something I consider to be within that bucket. Sorry if you don't agree.

So let me ask you this?

Have you reported anything to https://report.cybertip.org/reporting

Have you reported anything to https://cyberbullying.org/report

Have you reported anything to https://www.unicef.org/lac/en/helplines ... f-violence

Now for a game stance: If i am not correct, you all know where misa is base wise? Have you all went over there and begun to siege that village?

I mean you were helping out Snail and others no? How many times is he going to have to post before you all turn on him?

I thought my previous point made it fairly obvious that I agree. I don't see why that should not extend to other forms of vitriolic behaviour as well.

You don't get to have your cake and eat it too. Either you want stricter moderation or you don't, but leaving it up to "moderator discretion" leads to ambiguous interpretations of what little rules there are and arbitrary punishments that vary wildly in terms of length and harshness based on personal whim. Great example of that right above this post.

If there were actually some sort of real set of rules in place it wouldn't have been necessary for you or anyone else to bother taking it upon yourselves to do all that because there would be a formal basis through which moderation could rely on to enact sufficient punishment. In other words, rules that explicitly state what is prohibited and the levels of warning and/or punishment related to them.

Who is arguing? This is the plea for moderation thread.

jorb wrote:Moderators moderate at their own discretion, and may enforce rules opportunistically. This is the thread where you give them feedback on their moderation, for good or for bad.

Am I not allowed to give feedback? As a moderator for this forum, do you think it is appropriate for you to be censoring such discussions? Have I broken any rules? Anyways I already knew and often stated how poor of a moderator you are, glad to see you proving me right. Learn to quote properly too that was another point I brought up.
