In a 2D or ASCII game - you just write the text, or change the tileset, or give a different icon. Not a whole 3D model with animations, effects etc.

It does however let me log in to my scrub character that I have only used a couple times, so I know it isn't a problem with my computer (as far as the legacy version goes).
