World 16.1 will be wiped with characters. World 16 will remain as is.

Yeah it's really fucked up that the devs did not warn the playerbase about W16.1 being shorter than average world. Unless, of course, they did do that, and you are just a mouth-breathing imbecile and no amount of warnings and idiot-proofing will make any difference.

I'm confused. Then why did you start in w16.1 in the first place (and how did you learn about it)?

It's not like w16 was wiped or isn't up to this day. With w16 still running, the pve-tards and never-wipers rwally have no leg to stand on. Brilliant decision by Devs, tbh.

EDIT: it's kind of awkward, but you do realize that picture points at your username in the post? In case you do, I don't judge, mind you.

Dying a couple months in sets you back several million LP. That means from that point on, you're permanently crippled relative to everyone else in your group, lagging behind in character development (and therefore your ability to contribute) by up to one month -- with no way to catch up. One month is huge, given how most people only play for 4-5 months per World. In some cases, depending on your role in the village, you may as well stop doing anything.

It creates a negative group dynamic: being in a group is supposed to keep players engaged for longer -- but here it actually does the exact opposite.

The fact that most deaths in Haven are random, extremely rare BS you have no control over (as in, one on average may not even die once in a particular world, and when you do, it's almost always something stupid) -- it feels extremely dumb and punishing.

For death to be "fun" every player needs to expect dying at least half a dozen times per World. And the penalty should be fixed/capped: 1-2 weeks of progress, not ~1/2 of your total playtime, where if you die late world, you may as well not bother.

EVE online is for many the gold standard of permadeath pvp mmo. Imagine if being podded in EVE cost one 50% of total skillpoints?

I'm confused.. you think the reason the game is niche is because of the resets? LOL

I understand being annoyed that your character is being deleted if you really just had no idea that the .1/.2 worlds are intended to be shorter than normal, but resets are an important part of the game

  • The majority of village tasks do not need any stats to perform
  • If you died with 500 farming you would inherit about 425 farming
  • If you die 3 months into the world the last 2 weeks is probably more progress than the current system
  • Crafters literally always end up with x10 the stats they need. We're prolly 2 years into world 16 and you'd only need like 10m LP to make a farming char that doesn't cap anything with gildings
  • Crafters are the least likely characters to die

Slippery slope is mad real and not a fallacy.

Death has been made less impactful like 12 times by now, each time with the intent to remain more players. Pretty sure all it did was make things more boring. If you're going to quit over losing 75 farming 12 months into a world you're going to quit over anything.

And yet it's still worse than EVE online ever was.

The original point was "death is fun". Having 50% of one's progress wiped out in one extremely unlikely, random episode -- is not "fun". It's stupid and disruptive. The only way to make the current death penalty reasonable is to make death x10-100 more common (for everyone).

I'm sorry, coming from the dude with 1000q+ learning necklace -- that's a bit unconvincing.
