In haven you can buy a very good char most worlds for 20 euro. You can die with that char 5 or so times before it becomes worthless. Before you even account for the fact you're probably more than 100x more likely to die in EVE than haven, I'm pretty sure losing a ship worth more than 4 euros in EVE is normal

The mechanical impact of dying in haven is practically nothing, it's just an ego bruise. Just like with everybody else falling down this slippery slope no realistic amount of reduced penalty would fix your bruise.

Jorb's record is writing "If you have any cool experiments you would like us to try for great science in World 16.1, feel free to share ideas!" and then completely ignoring 130 pages of ideas.
World 16.1 Prelude's thread record will never be beaten.

You just don't know what you're talking about.

In EVE Online, there's a rule that everyone knows: never undock with something you can't afford to replace.

That's not possible in Hafen, at least not without heavy botting.

Wouldn't this just be splitting between an in-wall and out-wall character? Or having a mining alt? You don't need heavy botting for this stuff.

Dying a couple months in sets you back several million LP. That means from that point on, you're permanently crippled relative to everyone else in your group, lagging behind in character development (and therefore your ability to contribute) by up to one month -- with no way to catch up. One month is huge, given how most people only play for 4-5 months per World. In some cases, depending on your role in the village, you may as well stop doing anything.

It creates a negative group dynamic: being in a group is supposed to keep players engaged for longer -- but here it actually does the exact opposite.

The fact that most deaths in Haven are random, extremely rare BS you have no control over (as in, one on average may not even die once in a particular world, and when you do, it's almost always something stupid) -- it feels extremely dumb and punishing.

For death to be "fun" every player needs to expect dying at least half a dozen times per World. And the penalty should be fixed/capped: 1-2 weeks of progress, not ~1/2 of your total playtime, where if you die late world, you may as well not bother.

EVE online is for many the gold standard of permadeath pvp mmo. Imagine if being podded in EVE cost one 50% of total skillpoints?

Pedophile defender Snail has pretty much debunked a lot of what you spoke of. I also would support major overhaul on death mechanic in a world without PVP aswell. Dying should be weighted because otherwise dying holds absolute no purpose and I hate games where death doesn't affect anything. Most survival games are like this, I wish more had the same impact as H&H. Also this stress to race for stats and being on the top also would be less important in a PVE world.

In this instance, I imagine the Gnomish Developers shall be making a pleasant evening out of poring over these quality suggestions and discoursing, et cetera while sat before the fireplace and inhalating the steam off a nice fresh spot of tea :)
