Idk who is the "you guys" you speak of tbh, my ass can't post shit without being lumped in with other groups that only exist in your guys imaginations. Or do you perhaps disagree with what I said and you think the steam release should go out just as it is right now?
Edit: I'd like to point out I've made some pretty damn constructive posts in this very thread (not all of them obviously) that point out the issues I personally (and I think a lot of others) have with it.

No one's buying it, you disingenuous retard. "Duhhhhh me and the other cronies just show up and echo each other in every thread, it's a cohencidence bro trust me" fuck you

I expect that it will attract new people, and will also make life more difficult for multiboxers who own bots. It will allow all players to play in equal conditions and reduce the chances of meeting serial killers overfed by bots for whom the goal of the game has always been to destroy the world as quickly as possible and whine about the fact that the server is empty after a month. I hope that among other things will be included VAC to reduce the number of cheaters who will try to interfere with the code of the game to gain an advantage by automations. So far the only downside is the loss of hats, otherwise expectations are positive.

Nice chat gpt, regardless this is complete nonsense, and VAC does not work, multiboxing and botting countermeasures will never work, it's an infinite losing treadmill.

Why do you think I'm a chatgpt?
I don't think it will completely solve the problem, however if it makes multiboxing more difficult it will definitely reduce the number of bot owners, as at some point the effort involved will outweigh the fun of bots. For those who want to play the old way there will always be a regular, non steam server available, but it's hard to say if normal players will play there.

Making multiboxing and botting harder will just move the accessibility from people who don't want to put effort in. Most players will always find a way. Spinning up a VM with different IP is basic stuff that nothing will stop.

There's no way anyone can keep up with so frequent wipes. This game is just incredibly time-consuming, especially if you're part of a large group, or you have some long-term goals. For example, building a market takes tremendous amount of time. There's no point in spending a month to build it, only to have it wiped the month after. Hermits progress slowly on their own. Alchemy takes months to discover recipes, and so on.

I played as a hermit, as a part of a minor and major faction, and in neither playstyle I can imagine playing with so frequent wipes. Well, maybe I can just do as much PVP and then quit, that's for sure, but I doubt such environment will attract any new players.

Totally double. Game atmosphere is slow and relaxing. Making it RUSH will kill it. And without atmosphere game will be worthless. Even 6 months is too short. 3 months is nice only for old players that know everything about game and always use shortcuts. But on steam will be newbies. Although game atmosphere is connection between slow relaxing progress-survival and risk of permanent losing char and valuable things.

About burnout - its inevitable. Just biology. No tricks with game can help prevent it. Only playing rarer and taking breaks for couple months. That is going to be impossible with short worlds.

Well, becasue Steam IS free and huge exposure if you have know-how. That's basically one of bigger part for what good publishers are taking their cut for. There is few tricks that can help even niche and free games from small studios. But J&L sadly are like babe in the woods, clearly having no idea about what they are doing. No offence, but that was clear on stream - 0 knowledge about reviews, wishlists, early access and so on.

You can't expect the players who got basically fucked over in so many ways by what they devs just announced to be positive about it. I'm sure if the devs actually address all the issues (custom clients/acc sharing/alts/paying twice/hats/dividing the game into two servers and forcing ppl to play on steam for the new world we waited so long for) the steam release will go a lot better than what we could expect right now.

If you (people you are referring to) don't like the game you stop playing it, not shitpost in every possible way like a mentally ill person for months or years end.

Over half of the posts in this thread are random trolling to stir shit up although it's Jorbtars fault as well, they should make a statement that w15 will be developed as well + it will wipe eventually thanks to bugged water q.
They don't owe anyone anything, community expected world wipe but there was literally no statement nowhere that there will be a wipe.

You realize I can actually like the game and want it to succeed while simultaneously be pissed off at the obvious mistakes they are doing? It makes me mad to the core as a coder that they somehow need to separate the ecosystems as if making both be able to login into the S1 wasn't literally just one if statement in the back-end that based on where you log in from uses different way of authorization.

Literally this. Just one firm statement about the future of non-steam hafen server(s), without "maybe", "perhaps", "we will see" or other mumbo-jambo, and I'll be content.
