I think a lot of players (me) would be much more likely to play on it if we knew a reset wasn't potentially right around the corner.

Its 100% not gonna be reset for at least 6 more months either way

I would really like to see either an official PvE world or the ability to host private servers for Haven.

I understand why many players love PvP. The conflicts, politics, and stories created by player interactions are a big part of what makes Haven unique.

However, I think Haven has become much more than just a PvP game. The sandbox itself is deep enough that many people could enjoy spending hundreds of hours building, crafting, farming, and developing their own settlement, with or without player conflict.

Right now those players do not really have a choice. They either accept PvP as part of the experience or they never get to enjoy Haven at all.

The issue is that PvP content is not experienced equally by everyone. A player who enjoys PvP chooses to fight, compete, and create stories through conflict. A player who does not enjoy PvP can still become part of that story unwillingly, with their progress becoming someone else's content.

I understand the argument that a PvE world would reduce the number of potential targets in the PvP world. That is a real concern.

But there is a difference between a conflict where both sides want to participate and a situation where one player gets entertainment while the other loses months of progress and leaves the game.

If the main value comes from finding players who do not want to fight back, then the problem is not really the lack of PvE players. It is that the game relies on unwilling participants to create that content.

The reason I would personally love to see a PvE world or private servers is because I know people who would love Haven but would never try it in its current form.

Last year I started playing sandbox games together with my elderly parents. Whenever possible, I host private servers for us so we can build things, talk, and spend time together. I honestly think they would love Haven. They could probably spend an entire year happily gathering resources, farming, and improving their village.

But I would never introduce them to the current world, because the PvP environment is simply not the experience they are looking for.

A PvE world or private servers would not need to replace the current world now. People who enjoy PvP could continue playing exactly as they do now.

It would simply give more people a chance to experience what makes Haven special.

I think Haven is too unique of a sandbox to have only one way to play.

One of the very few things I'm absolutely convinced of is that if Haven & Hearth ever turns into a PvE-only game, that's the day it truly dies.

There are several survival games out there. Haven was never special because you could chop trees or build a farm. It was special because every time you left your walls, there was real risk. You could get mauled by a bear, ambushed by another player, stumble into someone's territory, make allies, start wars, get robbed, raid someone else's village, or simply disappear forever. That constant sense of danger is what made every decision matter.

And if PvP wasn't your thing, nobody forced you into it. You could stay behind your walls, build your village, breed animals, farm, craft, and play the game however you wanted. That freedom to choose your own level of risk is what made Haven unique.

Over the years, though, the game has been moving further and further away from that. Every update adds another layer of protection against permanent death. And now, even if you do die, you can recover a huge portion of the LP you lost anyway.

What's even more telling is that every new world launches with fewer players than the last, and people quit sooner despite all these extra protections against permanent death. Clearly, making the game safer isn't solving the problem.

Meanwhile, players who actually enjoy PvP keep getting punished because of endless complaints from people who've been playing for years and still refuse to learn how combat works. They already have KO protection, which makes permanently killing someone incredibly difficult unless they make serious mistakes. Yet apparently even that isn't enough.

Then there's the thingwall war declaration system. It has practically killed sieges. Instead of creating meaningful conflict, it turned them into a tedious waiting game where you spend hours babysitting a stone, only to spend another 24 hours guarding a battering ram that can be destroyed by a couple of throwaway alts. That's not good gameplay. It's just boring.

Haven & Hearth was never meant to be a safe survival game.

I want the Minecraft anarchy server experience. The kind where you can watch the world evolve over decades. By 2096 I want Q999999 carrots, the entire surface paved over and every mine layer completely hollowed out.
