I would really like to see either an official PvE world or the ability to host private servers for Haven.
I understand why many players love PvP. The conflicts, politics, and stories created by player interactions are a big part of what makes Haven unique.
However, I think Haven has become much more than just a PvP game. The sandbox itself is deep enough that many people could enjoy spending hundreds of hours building, crafting, farming, and developing their own settlement, with or without player conflict.
Right now those players do not really have a choice. They either accept PvP as part of the experience or they never get to enjoy Haven at all.
The issue is that PvP content is not experienced equally by everyone. A player who enjoys PvP chooses to fight, compete, and create stories through conflict. A player who does not enjoy PvP can still become part of that story unwillingly, with their progress becoming someone else's content.
I understand the argument that a PvE world would reduce the number of potential targets in the PvP world. That is a real concern.
But there is a difference between a conflict where both sides want to participate and a situation where one player gets entertainment while the other loses months of progress and leaves the game.
If the main value comes from finding players who do not want to fight back, then the problem is not really the lack of PvE players. It is that the game relies on unwilling participants to create that content.
The reason I would personally love to see a PvE world or private servers is because I know people who would love Haven but would never try it in its current form.
Last year I started playing sandbox games together with my elderly parents. Whenever possible, I host private servers for us so we can build things, talk, and spend time together. I honestly think they would love Haven. They could probably spend an entire year happily gathering resources, farming, and improving their village.
But I would never introduce them to the current world, because the PvP environment is simply not the experience they are looking for.
A PvE world or private servers would not need to replace the current world now. People who enjoy PvP could continue playing exactly as they do now.
It would simply give more people a chance to experience what makes Haven special.
I think Haven is too unique of a sandbox to have only one way to play.
