How hard is it to actually try and see what your loyal fans and new gamers want? Make 16 PvE but expand it with larpy dungeons and new continents with new challenges, new mobs etc. Open 16.2 with faster time, less restrictive pvp, central continent spawning, small world, everything that those willing to make multiple accounts demand. More than a decade of trying to tweak a game to keep a less than a hundred interested has to be exhausting. Gather together the tough guys, the studs, the badass pvpers who just want good fights, and give them exactly what they want in 16.2. At the same time expand 16, add new land with new content, new dungeons with new creatures, new mine levels that have dangers that require cooperation, and make it pve, still permadeath, just pve. See where people go. Dont you have any dreams left rather than speeding up the world, tweaking rage to try and fix a broken/unattractive model, and puking out a new bird every 2 months?

Come onnn, PvE… I’m trash and scared you might attack me!!! You already have 5,998,726 farming games for people like you.
I hope I get to kill a lot of people like you in this world.

Death is coming for you.

P.S.: Instead of hats, they should add a hand shop for people like you.

W16 turns into PVE world, but anyone logged into that server within the past 9 months cannot post on the forums.

Quit fucking suggesting PvE only worlds, what you actually want is a better combat system, specifically how stats and gear relates to player power.

In the end, PvE lovers ruin every game they touch. You've already got Stardew Valley, Farming Simulator, and plenty of other games if that's the kind of gameplay you enjoy. This game barely has any real goals as it is. Remove PvP too, and what's left? Racing to see who gets quality 754 carrots first...

Click-to-move sandbox MMOs that aren't PvP first are pretty rare. The only alternative we have is BitCraft. :|
The MMO part is important. All the other sandbox games are PvP games and usually not MMOs.

There are hundreds of potential players who would love to experience this game if there were less griefing.

I don't see a point in removing PvP completely. Instead make it harder for those kinds of players to bother people who are more interested in the lore and crafting. Permadeath itself is crucial for this game, but it would be fun to have that risk come from additional dangers like diseases, harsh weather or new aggressive animals. All of that could make a more PvE-oriented server very interesting and bring it closer to the survival genre.
But right now, the biggest risk in the game is running into a loser who thinks griefing will somehow make their daddy love 'em more.
I think that The Seatribe team creates an amazing and beautiful game, and I love HnH very much, it's a shame that for now it's world can't be experienced by most people. Griefing is totally a reason why this game is stagnating, so heading towards more PvE (without fully eliminating pvp mechanics) would be good.

I know a lot more people who quit because they're bored than people who quit because they died.

There's definitely somebody, but off the top of my head I don't think I personally know a single person who quit because they died.

The comedic part about this never-ending pre-wipe pvp vs pve samsara we find ourselves in is that both aspects suck.
PvP as is sucks, already made a thread on the moot detailing that but PvE is just as bad. We need something more grand to aspire towards. At a certain point you realize that you're just killing the same boring ass animals over and over again. Anytime they try to add something challenging, they never get fought as intended, they get cheesed. People completely forego the proper way of killing half the shit in this game and they only EVER learn how to cheese. That's fucked up. Devs see this and just shrug their shoulders, yet another thing 'they simply cannot do anything about' to add to the pile.
So even if I were to suggest what I was going to (new interesting enemies like Lindwurms, Leviathans, Krakens and 'boss' monster events like Jormungandr it would be pointless. Shit would be added, 95% of the playerbase will never be able to kill them, the other 5% will only exclusively cheese them and PvE will remain shit.

Sitting here and writing this, I can't help but ponder why I exactly I keep returning...
Early-mid game is just that good I guess. After that, too many chores, too many killing the same animals I have already killed a billion times over, wanna pvp, try, get reminded that it's just a running simulator, wonder why the fuck I'm still playing this instead of literally anything else, actually go play anything else. Rinse repeat every world.

Games too safe. Not threatened by PvE. Not threatened by PvP.
Great hardcore survival game. I may as well go play some old school roguelikes like DCSS to get me fix of danger and difficulty.

It's time we threw caution into the wind and just deleted the ability to claim entirely, instead relying on different tiers of wall for protection and just plain fighting to defend what's yours. Wrecking Ball is enough to get into Palisades, Ram needed for Brick Walls and then another tier of wall + siege weapon to round things out.
Short worlds, more action, more danger, more social interactions, more PvP. We were discussing getting people to stand and fight in some other threads and how to get people to do that. Well let's use an example here. Some big village is under threat of siege. They're going to have to defend for real or roll over and die.

And listen if this all sounds to extreme, that's what these offshoot shorter worlds were supposed to be for, to be a TESTING ground for radical ideas.
I bet this game would see the most numbers and would have the craziest interactions in its entire lifespan if we just deleted claims. I bet people would be more creative in setting up their bases and more invested in the game as a whole.
Give us 1 world of that. If it's a complete disaster, like the worst thing ever, then just cut the fucking world short, have it be a 3-month world. I don't think it'll come to that, but the option is there. Nobody is setting the time a world needs to stick around beside J&L and that shit isn't set in stone, change it if need be.
Even if it were a disaster, at least it'd be a funny and memorable one.

Did they ever give a reason as to why they don't fix PvE cheesing (mammoth traps or hunting from a boat)?
