Doesn't help when the "experimental world" takes the same time to progress and is as grindy as all the normal worlds. When 16.1 accidentally increased the grind, instead of fixing that, they just scrapped the whole speed up change that made "experimental worlds" make any sense in the first place.

Also they showed with 16.1 they're not willing to fix apparent issues until the next experimental world anyway.

There's that too. The fact that the only "experiment" world we've had lasted 10ish months is kind of funny. I wouldn't expect this one to be any shorter. Like, we traded normal, steady worlds that lasted 12ish months for worlds with more chaotic and controversial changes that last 10 months lol. If you hate the experimental changes, you're sitting out for a year

bmjclark wrote:Has the player base even broken 1000 players this world? These goofy half worlds with pvp changes that the majority of people don't give a fuck about at best or will die and quit over at worst are unironically killing the game and quickly. World 16 broke 2k players online at one point iirc. Last world peaked in the mid thousands, this world is peaking at around 900ish. There's a clear pattern here ever since you guys started fucking around with these half assed worlds

I remember barely seeing it cross 1k for a split second lol, and yeah W16.0 had like 3000+ from what I remember, because of the Steam release. Naturally experimental worlds will have a lower playercount though i feel like, so it isn't all that surprising. I do agree that the fact most of the changes cater strictly to pvpers is contributing to the low playercount, but I don't necessarily think the changes themselves are bad per se. I do wholeheartedly agree with your other comment that 'we traded steady worlds that lasted ~12mo for worlds with controversial changes that last 10 months' lmao, the experimental worlds would be perfectly fine imo if they ACTUALLY lasted 6 months like originally advertised, frankly I think 3-5 months would be best but whatever.

Experimental world need two things to work: bold changes (or what's the point?) and very short worlds.

Test big stuff. Make absurd changes. Make big changes mid world if necessary.
If it works, great! Add it to the list for the next normal world reset.
If it doesn't, the world only lasts 2 or 3 months anyway.
If it REALLY doesn't just wipe. It's an experimental world after all.

If players knew it worked like that, I think people would be more open to testing stuff out even if it goes against their interest (like PvErs testing a world like this one).

Let's face it. With worlds that last the better part of a year, most players are not willing to throw away their chance to have a good start just to test something out. If they knew a fresh start was only a couple of months away, maybe they would.

Can you unban me please I'll scream and it'll sound more like a moan. And it will be wet. I'd ask Vatas but he's a passive little baby who is leashed by everyone but himself.

*clutches pearls* ME? I did no such thing. I'm a scammer, actually. Be specific who "some people" are.. I am quite forgetful. We all know and trust the snail after all.

Well, thats exactly why i and almost everyone I know decided to skip this world. half of the changes are basically aimed at empowering the single thing i dont like about this game.
I wouldn't mind pvp changes if they were balanced out by instant claims staying and maybe something like "that will be our largest world to date with multiple spawn continents"
also, i was expecting a slower world this time with actual QOL changes - like pausing steel and silk production instead of progress reset
instead, i see the basically a playground for 1% toxic player group - why would i even start there?

well, since that's merely an experiment, i hope that would bring some useful data for W17
