All good stuff bros.
J&L, one thing I urge you to do is to NOT FUCKING BUCKLE on this short world plan. Test it, let it run its course and we'll know DEFINITIVELY if it is a good idea or not. Don't just listen to the usual people saying they don't like it, let's give it a whirl, if it's shit, adjust it, extend the next world, it's not the end of the world if the first iterations are too short or whatever, this sort of thing is necessary to fine tune how long each world should run before starting a new fresh one.
Personally, I think 6 months may end up being where we land on in terms of sticking with it, but I'm happy to test 3-4 month long worlds to see how they feel.

Like I said though, stellar work bros. Glad we're finally getting a steam release, and I am legitimately happy (and surprised) that you're having a separate world for steam players and the regular ol' world we have here. I wasn't expecting that, but I do like it.

Now I just have to endure the grueling month long wait for this to happen. I am excited to say the least...

I think this experiment may be more successful than others are whinging about. There is a significant percentage of players who like the initial world start rush to supremacy and enjoy PvP and PKing, who ultimately abandon the game in about 3-4 months. I think this will provide that. Steam release will expose Haven and Hearth to a wider audience that if they are more interested in long play will know they can join a long play server instead.

Forcing people to reverify accounts and spend another 15$ screams cash grab, allow the linking of accounts and diminish the need for alts.

The good news, such as it is, is that the steam setup looks like it will give many PvPers precisely what they want. If we're really lucky, the people whose "fun" consists in slaughtering sprucecaps, will love the Steam experience so much that they'll abandon the non-steam worlds.

Unfortunately, we may also lose many of the big teams, often bot-supported, that specialize in fast start up, then compete with each other. Unfortunately they are also the people who found kingdoms, markets, and similar. They already seem to be mostly gone from World 15, and I miss them. I fear they'll all be over on Steam, and not interested in world 16.

This link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3051 ... n__Hearth/ took me to https://store.steampowered.com That's a big complicated page, but seems to have absolutely nothing about Haven.

Maybe it would have taken me somewhere else if I'd been logged into steam? And maybe I can find haven using steam's search. But the link you gave doesn't do what you intended.

[Edited to add: being logged in didn't help. It's a bad link.]

[Edit: Searching for haven gave me 1354 results, plus 119 which were excluded for not being in my genres. Searching for "Haven and hearth" gave me zero results. Searching for "hearth" only have me 107 plus 1 excluded. None of the 107 included game names also contained the word haven.]

biggest advantage for me will be Steam Gift Cards... I find them safer to use

very interested to see where this will take the development of the game - I certainly hope the steady (?) influx of players will allow you to focus more on developing and addressing the current problems of the game.

I, for one, welcome our new steam overlord
