With no teleports you immediately remove all markets and public wells from the game (recent worlds have proven them mostly useless anyway since most are destroyed within a month of opening). They would only be used by those within reasonable traveling distance (foot, horseback, or boat) of them; and the PK crowd would just hang around outside waiting for victims.

Rather than removing all teleports, what about adding some limitations?

1. Vortexes only bring you to the same continent
2. Thingwalls do the same. No connections between those on different continents. Same goes for Charter Stones. This would make oceans a real obstacle to cross every time, not just something you ignore after the first crossing.
3. Travel to HF stays the same.

Unsure about the travel to docks...

They did something like that world 11, and it was probably the most hated world since 8.
Oceans, just like winter, are disliked by everybody who actually interacts with them, and every patch that has improved them has just been something that makes them a bit easier to ignore.

If you @ me and say you like oceans: no you don't, you just think they're cool in your head. You don't actually interact with oceans. You're a fake sailor.

The most I used was Google Translate. I'm pale as a toadstool ¦]

I can't say I love the oceans.
I've had dealings with them, but it was a bit boring, except for when I ran into a really fast walrus that got on my nerves.
Well, yes, I mostly hunted walruses and seals and swam a little from one continent to the other. I'm far from a real sea wolf.
There's not enough danger in the oceans. Yes, in head it looks more interesting

Regarding winter, what's the problem with settling in regions where winters are shorter?
The further north you go, the longer the winter will last, and vice versa.
It's all a win-win. Maybe they'll even fight for the best plots of land.

I don't think oceans are there to be liked. They have very little content and stuff like whale hunting sucks.

Oceans are supposed to be an obstacle you can't cross without a lot of work, not something for larping sailors.
You should be required to have a Knarr to cross them (Snekkjas should stick to less deep waters).

This would make the initial spawn way more important. Everyone would be "stuck" on the continent they spawn on, having to settle down for a few weeks at least rather than spamming alts with dugouts and rowboats to find shallow links and go through vortexes.

Once Knarrs "unlock", it's up to each village to decide if they want to relocate to a new, untouched part of the map, or stay where they are.

Right now there's almost no point in having oceans, beside explaining orcas and whales.

What part of that sounds fun to you. Waiting 2 weeks before you can even start building your base? Shift clicking through the ocean and going afk for 20-30 minutes? Wowza. Fun.

All oceanlover propaganda is the same as traveling merchant propaganda. They're never going to engage with the content they're suggesting. They just have an unrealistic romanticized version of it in their head that doesn't hold up to even basic scrutiny. You know who else had an unrealistic romanticized version of something in their head? Hitler, and you're worse than him if you're lobbying for anything that makes oceans relevant.

What do you think about crafting weapons?
It's like character creation (customization), with different hairstyles, colors, and so on.
It's not necessary to create each part as a separate object in the game.
Although it's possible to craft each part, it would be more difficult.
Part unlocking, for example, could be tied to the blacksmithing or carpentry skill; the higher the skill, the more parts.

The whole time I was in the ocean, I wasn't in AFK. I don't know about the other players.

I dunno man, Hitler hated oceans. If not for the UK Royal Navy he would have stood a much better chance. :^)
