i might be crazy but i think animals spam defenses more often during downtime where neither of you can hit each other and that kind of feels better and more logical, but the anti-cheese doesn't really do anything but prolong fights that don't win instantly. also ranged combat kind of defeats the purpose cuz you can just shoot an arrow as they arrive and then as they start fleeing and rinse and repeat.

tbh I've mostly just been killing things by walking ahead of it just out of range with a narwhal tusk

the animal spam defending makes things slower, but it's still faster than having to defend yourself + gay wounds + 150 durability armor breaking

you're probably right about ranged being meta which is very cringe

600 active players less than a week after release is crazy.

Until the devs realize the players are the problem (and de-4chanify the playerbase), every new world will be deader than the last.
