If the Wrecking Ball is not affected by the new (and expensive) requirements for a Thing Peace challenge, then those requirements are not going to affect small fry trying to scavenge from abandoned claims, and I don't have any problem with the Thing Peace change.

True but I think I was trying to argue that if a base has an inactive claim, you should be allowed to hand-bash the palisade so it can be easily scavenged. This is complicated by the fact that (even on world start) Palisade will be insufficient to provide protection if soak is lowered (Palisade hand-bashing immunity only kicks in when claimed and fully soaked.) because it would make it easier to grief other people's walls by repeatedly bashing them before they can dry.

Fresh outlook: simply putting up a Wrecking Ball isn't too unreasonable: actually it's something like "last chance for someone to notice the claim is inactive." Also if breaking into abandoned base is too easy, someone could go through all of them and raze to the ground without actually taking anything. Just to screw over both potential scavengers and the original owner.

Combine this with the people who need scavenged goods the most likely won't have the strength to bash Palisade anyway, I will realign my stance on this specific issue to "no changes."

As long as inactive base (as in, claim has run out of Presence or Authority) can be broken into with a Wrecking Ball, it should be fine.

you can dress a slave in clothes sewn by slaves and then his labor can be used without hindrance, since, according to your logic, he ceases to be oppressed, he himself uses the labor of slaves.

before we continue our incoherent rambling in this forum - can we all take a moment to show our appreciation to @jorb&loftar for keeping this small and understaffed game up and running for the last... something more then 10 years.

@jorb&loftar Thank you

AMEN

oh absolutely, nothing but respect for anyone who manages to create something out of passion or interest. My career and personal ventures have made me... easily impressed, i guess would be the simplest way of putting it. I can't get the bank to perform basic tasks for me without effing up something simple, but other humans can create virtual worlds that players across the globe can enjoy?
what the hell, man, that's cool as shit and I'll always be kinda shocked by it

can we have "world bosses" in the game?
Like that giant yellow snaill that we find in caves sometimes but fun and not a "stay a full day beating it" to kill?
what is so hard about adding a troll here or there in the surface that destroys everything in its path and you need to gather a bunch of people to kill?

The world is too big.
Most players are basically clueless about how combat works.
Most players don't know how to grind enough stats to 1v1 a bear in a reasonable amount of time, not to mention fight what you'd call a world boss.
Having to gather players to do something is basically asking for everyone involved to get fucked by a pvp group.
What if it spawns near a group of new players or even near a solo player.
The fact that you think that cave conch takes a "full day" to kill means you wouldn't enjoy world bosses since that's what they would look like. One person tanking and just defending while the rest hits it.

Bosses are placed in dungeons for a reason, so that only those who are prepared will actually get to fight them, if you are too weak to fight it you probably won't get through the dungeon itself. The only difference world bosses have is that they just spawn randomly, you could argue that rare animals such as mammoths/whales/etc. are basically a world boss even though they get cheesed by a single person because nobody is gonna gather a group to fight them (also fighting a whale in a none cheese way is a good way to lose a knarr or two).

Npcs that take a full day to kill are good but npcs that take a full day to kill and fight back are bad? I see, I forgot we only like punching bags here. When I say it takes a day I'm just hyperbole...

if you can't kill you move away from it, try to lure it away, ask for help or do anything else other than stay in your base all day long. Long long ago, when bows are trash and you could not kill a level 12 troll with a fresh alt hyperbole again people would call for help or just lock the mining area.
