It affects nobody having two servers - one being PvE - negatively.

The people vehemently against it are comfortable with this game being the same 50-200 players every single world. PvP server acts as a quarantine zone where those same 50-200 players can safely jerk each other off, and then you can have organic growth and build an actual larger community with your inevitably more popular PvE server.

Why cater to 50-200 people while alienating thousands of potentially paying interested parties?

Maybe we should also make the camera fixed so we can hide behind trees and remove other players' icons from the minimap.
When you're running away from other players, you don't have many options to hide.
This is where tracking comes in handy.
This will also provide opportunities for surprise attacks.

Because the day PvP is removed, your base will be griefed so hard with non-PvP mechanics, that you will start creating threads asking to bring it back, that's why.

Fake news. Nobody has PvP at world start, every single world, and villages manage to form and claims manage to go up despite people stealing hides off unclaimed unhidden drying racks and bashing anything not nailed down.

There may be a few outliers, but behind a paywall you’re not going to get an army of bots doing the work for free.

Also, look at the typical population drop YoY a week or so after release when the criminal PvP elements are more widely accessible. The server starts with a thousand or so unique players and then rapidly falls off about a week in once the casuals are genocided.

Anyone coming into this game off of Steam using default client is at a huge disadvantage to people (those 50-200 people) on custom clients with autodrinkers or drink on hot keys, trees hidden, pathing hitbox displays and numerous other advantages.

You shouldn’t have to download a third party client to play the game properly, or be inconvenienced by people that have. Bad design.

How about making it so that to get stealing and murder you need a special village type. A "bandit camp" with its own unique looking village claim. Giving the members an obvious and recognizable look so everyone who looks at them knows that he can and will attack you. Give a notice entering the area of a thingwall to know that it has one of these bases present.
Spruces know that the area is danger, and as it is noticable if someone is a pvp-er or not, maybe it wont be an automatic travel to hearthfire when people see eachother.

"This is why hermits shouldn't be allowed to have forum accounts they just drown out all the human voices with their npc slop"

And this is the standard PvP "slop". Right up there with "Hermits don't deserve to live" and "I love to hunt sprucecaps".

And the same group of PvP players are the ones who, five months into a world, are complaining "this world is dead, need to reset now". Well, if that world is "dead" it is because the PvP crowd ran everyone off. They only want a reset so there will be a new crop of hermits to kill.

The only "haven" in this game is that it is a haven for the type of player who derives enjoyment from ruining other peoples' game. "Look, there's a new village over there. Let's go destroy it!"

Well, show me where I wrote about NPCs in this sentence?

Or maybe you couldn't understand that when I said pirates, I meant the players who play them.

What's wrong with adding NPCs?

The one time we get a literal world for PVP players, and a world that doesn't wipe for PVE players, there are more PVE players complaining than ever.

What happened?
