Please don't listen to the lunatics asking for a no/later reset, people took days off and made plans for the upcoming week already.

So, it'll basically be world 14 with lava now?

Same. I really don't get the 'NOW NOTHING HAS CHANGED' attitude here. World launches typically don't have all that many pre-announced changes, and the biggest changes are usually discovered/revealed only after the world launches. Even major changes like Thingwalls weren't known in advance. (It usually gets retroactively added to the changelog making it hard to find out in retrospect which things were and weren't revealed, but if you look at the W13 launch thread you'll see the first mention of them is as a "tree with stones from trailer" with no clue what it did, people only later in the thread finding out about the fast travel.)

That reminds me, with W13 Thingwalls were a big secret that had a dev post a few weeks later explaining their intended mechanics. When W14 started I was expecting something similar for Star Shards but it never came. Any chance we could get a short post before W15 starts? For all we know, they could have been bugged the whole time.

Not specifically, but they are at the very least teased. In the case of W13, they did announce an overhaul of Fast Travel from the very beginning. With W14, they teased the change of mining progression. The major changes are in fact announced/teased.

With W15, there's no mention of any overhaul other than siege and (the now scrapped) health/combat, which are two big things that would warrant a world reset by themselves. So yeah things aren't looking up at all from my perspective.

Really hope you guys will at least give the health / armor changes another look at some point and possibly implement it without the issues you had with it. It seemed like a promising change and it's a shame to see it scrapped over some number issues
