"There are already plenty of games out there if you just want a farming simulator."

And plenty of games out there if you want nonstop hack-and-slash "king of the hill" PvP action.

Without PvP Haven is still much more than a "farming simulator".

"Haven is built around consequence."

Haven is built around no consequences. Murder everyone in sight, destroy every base you encounter, ruin everyone else' game simply because you are more powerful than they are ...there are no consequences.

This was never how it was.

Maybe I'm old and cannot remember the old times, but what I remember:

Death used to mean something. In the fact a long time ago, you had to actually play with the char and do things with it for it to gain LP. Also with the scales we used to have, you had to be online and active in order to interact with them. I am talking a Time Way back in World 2 and 3

Before the dark days came.

during that time, there were botters, you would come across Swaths of scorched earth where someone came in and chopped down all the trees ad made them into buckets or boards(you had to do things back then to gain LP. But the world was much deadlier then. boars and bears were around and roaming and you would be knocked out and possibly killed by them. you didn't have "pve" options to go back to your hearth before you woke up and what not. Also the combat was much more simpler and better, as you didn't have this Yu-Gi-Oh quazi match game and you, wut enough points could defend yourself against another after you learned how the moves and whatnot worked.

But that's all gone and we have this.
Too pvpish for the Pve players
Too pveish for the PVP players

nobody is happy.

You can do that anyway and 99% of the playerbase would have no recourse cause they dont get far enough to siege walls or even get into the pvp aspect of the game.

Don't get me wrong, I like pvp and it's an important part of the game, but this notion that pve is an impossibility because everyone would get griefed with no recourse simply isn't true.

Like a wall of 200 alts would require you to run 200 instances of the game, and you could just push them out the way anyway. Claiming and walling every cave and resource is impossible with how authority works.

People should just be honest and say that haven doesn't feel threatening or risky enough without pvp, which is a very valid point, instead of this whole rigmarole of it being mechanically necessary which stems from a silly pinned jorb post of yesteryear that everyone internalised.

If you've somehow managed to do all of that while I haven't already secured my own resources, then I just move.

You're welcome to follow me across the world. At that point you're spending your hours (or bot it out I guess) providing some sort of in-game localized disaster which is just content.

All those things you described are additive in nature and less harmful to another player's game play than PvP.

There's still no haven_and_hearth tag on r34 by the way...
I check every few years. Truly the exception.

Honestly some of you are just retarded freaks. Use your words, think things through.

lol they try a PVE world once a year it's called the first 12-36 hours of every world before you get rage where every hermit turns into an insufferable li'l mosquito searching for any possible way to be annoying until you aggro them for the first time where it suddenly all turns into "w-wait I'm just a li'l guy. And it's my birthday. You wouldn't punch a guy in glasses, would you? PVP is wrong."

Haven PVP (when it's good) isn't rly comparable to a league of legends match. It's closer to high stakes poker. Skilled based, but still unfair, and the loser is very sad. Knowing the mathematically correct play is good, but psychology, confidence, reputation, reading people, and 100 other small skills are probably overall more important.

Less battle of waterloo, more the CIA assassinating democratically elected leaders of south american countires.

Haven PVP without risk does just feel like rly bad league of legends, tho. Nobody's interested in fighting in valhalla for fun, and every world the actual game just feels closer to valhalla. Too little risk, and too little reward. Too much effort for placing your bet to even be worth it if you're sure you're going to win.

I guess If you are only ever on the losing end of PVP, the notion of conflict can seem self-defeating. But there exist some human beings with a developed motor cortex, allowing them usage of their hands. This enables them to move a mouse and press keys on a keyboard, while not accidentally turning their monitor off. And I believe you can do this too!
