It's a sandbox game dude, the developers give you the tools to resolve your own problems because that's how they want it to work. Relying on them to add a stupid safe zone trading area like Salem defeats the entire purpose of players building up their own infrastructure and economy.

If someone is having trouble reaching your location, did you consider building your own market with a charter and road network? No? Oh okay.

Then go fish yourself dumbass lmao, bro really wants to have his cake and eat it too. Ruins every aspect of the game for everyone else but thinks everything should be tailored around his own needs and playstyle. Get fucked kid.

It's never not been obvious that all of the talk about making the game better for anyone but himself was bullshit

Not being able to cheese hunting has been a pretty solid reminder of how ass the combat is in this game, especially in pve.

tbh considering how underwhelming hunted food is I think the usual day 8 - week 3 period where people hunt bears (the most fun part of the entire game) and naturally run into each other won't happen. I think people will just fish until they start pickling and never leave their base on their main

basically 1:1 what everybody predicted every time this was suggested

NGL I hard support Snail's take here.
But this is also Snail's fault because he tried to shame the devs into making PvE more like PvP and now we've ended up with the predictable result of PvE that's nothing like PvP but also completely unfun. Which even Snail predicted, ffs.

I wasn't a big fan of cheesing animals, but I did it for mammoths and whales because it was mandatory. You still can cheese them, it's just more annoying.

I almost exclusively kited the bear and smaller class of animals, which now sucks because they spam defenses.
Frankly, kiting animals was a better teaching tool than the group combat that is now mandated to efficiently hunt for meat. I did group hunting before, but it was more enjoyable when it wasn't the only play style.

This world is a mega L.
All the changes except the content additions and QOL features should be reverted back to W16.
Also just remake combat. I don't care if it becomes Swedish Pokemon battles, I think we just need something new.

I personally don't really see anything wrong with animals requiring facetime, for the most part. It's always been the obvious intent that killing animals which fight back in melee is a purchase that you make with armour durability and wounds as your currency.

I have no qualms with exchanging armor dura and taking wounds.
My issue is solely that it's unfun, which is inherently subjective.

I also find MMO combat from circa 2001-2003, where you stand static and exchange HP, to be unfun. There are plenty of people who greatly enjoy that style of gameplay and enjoy it to this day.

My ideal PvE is actually like Escape from Tarkov from before they buffed armor coverage. Skill and game knowledge let you minimize risk, but playing at human/non-hacker levels, even the highest levels, involve some risk of death or defeat, especially when the PvP mixes with PvE and you're forced to move or contest space under less optimal conditions.

I think Haven could use less deterministic combat decks, and animals should only render with LoS. Also animal speed should arguably be more variable, and certain animals should unleash multiple attacks simultaneously if you aggro them under certain circumstances.
