Could, indeed, argue that about anything.

Past a night of frustration and random experimenting, I like it, just wish my druids cloak was a tad better, I mean I have way more farming then I did though.

Bear Capes I can see having a large impact, but otherwise? Int and charisma buffs?

The effect of a bear cape should for that matter be fairly easy to reproduce with a couple of teeth.

Most of the more significant stat buffs come from rings anyway, no?

Farmer's hat, fox hat, ashen robes... lynx cape? Lawspeaker's stuff?

Agi buffs from ranger's gear I guess could matter a lot.

Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but I have to admit that I'm not entirely sure what the big deal actually is.

You need to consider the variety in ways to obtain int gear for newbies. Not all newbies will have access to precious metals for rings. There used to be tiers, steps for all types of players. Newbies would be happy with a fox hat, their first ashen robes afterwards, then finally gathering enough cloth for a lawspeaker hat at least.

However the one effect this system has currently is adding a lot of hassle to making specialized sets of gear. The wardrobe requests are pretty warranted as now you need to swap out several pieces of gear to get the same kick you used to get from a hat and some robes. I'm sure the entire thing can still use some fleshing out and rebalancing, and as long as you agree you'll keep an eye on that in the not too distant future I'm sure everything will go smoothly. Salem's slotting system worked okay because it had accessible brackets for newbies as well as for advanced players. The current one is too restricted as far as variety goes, so perhaps look into that, or at least into base bonuses to gear for newbies.

people were saying you needed something like 750str (cant remember exactly how much but was over 700)
at most one can have is 660, i doubt someone could get that much strength

i think rare items such as dark heart, fishy eyeball, perfect hole, wondrous woodshaving, or pearls should be a gildable item
would love gildable items to work much like slotting gears/gems/crap in other games where you have a clear limit. that way we have tiers to clothing, strange that something made of linen is considered the same as something made from nettle >>
