So Salem still going? I thought latest update kind of flopped as store has been removed and nothing much on their forums.

I haven't checked in a couple months. Everyone who is playing is on the Discord. It's been at 100-ish daily logins for a long time. You often meet players in the city.

In my personal experience, the fresh Salem server (confusingly named "New Haven" after one of the earliest English colonies) suffered from at least two significant issues:

==Wiki (or the lack of it)==
Salem is even more of a "wiki game" than Haven (obviously you'd want to make use of the Wiki when playing HnH, but the game has gradually evolved into a state where it's at least theoretically possible to have casual fun with just the in-game instructions) (Palisade tutorial quest when?)
But unfortunately, whomever owned the Salem wiki couldn't be reached. There were wiki admins that were still active, but also unwilling to make major changes without the owner's permission. As a result, few pages in the style of "New Haven: X New Thing" were created. But the already existing pages were stuck with the main/old server info. This actively misled players who didn't actively seek out patch notes and/or word-of-mouth.

==Stocks==
Key component of the Crime system in Salem is the ability for other players to put criminals into "stocks" that are located in the main NPC town. Take the following with a grain of salt because I've never experienced any Salem PvP whatsoever: AFAIK, the Stocks were heavily nerfed, with lot of the methods of messing with the criminals outright removed. Even so, getting placed into a Stock was still such a major hassle that PvP meta-defining strategy was "lure the opponent into leaving Scents, so we can send them to the Stocks" (ie. the same meta that, IIRC, Haven has had when the Nidbanes were overtuned.)
