The palisaded gates are actually optional in this setup. (I'm aware it's amusingly unsafe, but there's still methods to do this)

Two of the most fulfilling times I've ever had in this game was my little group of 4 hunting mammoths and trolls without using shitty gimmicks.

The monkeypaw is strong on this one. This is abusing a mechanic that's used to protect villages from being griefed by wild animals lured and aggroed in by pvpers.
Making mammoths boring is way better than dealing with bear bowling again.

each piece of wall will cost as much as the original
To cover a large area with at least a palisade will take much more time due to the fact that each segment will require more resources
Even building a fence around a house would take a lot of time and resources.
This could have a significant impact on the initial game, making it much longer. It's a good solution in my opinion.
Good Haven is less tedious; not more tedium.

Players build a huge palisade as soon as they have leather.
In the real world without a lot of workers, not all villages could afford the rapid construction of a palisade, or even build one at all.
Maybe we could add another type of fence that would be roughly like a palisade, but could be broken down manually (with tools).
Or we could weaken the palisade and add a palisade with an earthen rampart that could only be broken down with siege weapons, and then it and the subsequent ones would cost the same as the original post.
