Maybe start by asking yourself how you want this forum to be run. It's been turning into a complete circus for quite some time now, and maybe you would want to reconsider if that's how you want your new audience to perceive your game. The forum is dominated by a few small groups who's only goal is to derail any new thread as soon as possible.
I know you've always been a person of minimum moderation and if you stand by that, that's fine. In that case I don't think adding an extra mod will do anything.
Whoever you decide to add, make it an outsider with preferably some moral values.

I had the idea of possibly making it so people can make 1 post a day or something like that, but cleaning up around here seems like a tall order.
The problem isn't threads being derailed, and I think that this is a dishonest take and something that is easy to ignore. The problem is that this community is currently being dominated by a group of narcissists whose personal reputation is deeply woven into the game for some reason.

Look in any subforum and you can find this robbin-dumarch character and a few of his villagemates, noidyflanker, theservant, kaios, overtyped and audiosmurf all campaigning and vying for attention and reputation. It's happening on the Steam discussion page right now too. Moot threads, C&I threads, IoB threads, even bug reporting and client development. You can't go anywhere without seeing one of them making some shallow pickme type post.
