Good Haven is less tedious; not more tedium.
Players build a huge palisade as soon as they have leather.
In the real world without a lot of workers, not all villages could afford the rapid construction of a palisade, or even build one at all.
Maybe we could add another type of fence that would be roughly like a palisade, but could be broken down manually (with tools).
Or we could weaken the palisade and add a palisade with an earthen rampart that could only be broken down with siege weapons, and then it and the subsequent ones would cost the same as the original post.
1. Something that noone needs and will use
2. Make palisade thing that noone will use
You have an apparent building with elevator. You could either use said elevator (fast, but not reliable if you have unstable power or need to lift something out of cabin dimensions) or stairs (slow but reliable).
On anual property owners meeting you proposed new idea: lets install narrow, power dependant stairs that you actually need to step on to move.
Well, escalators are quite often used in mall.
