rn people hoard tokens over worlds which makes them effectively rich forever++ which makes trading in almost anything except tokens not really worth it

Now that I think of it, I think that would be a nice solution. Though I could still see there being some market for tokens, because they would still work as a currency as they are something hard to acquire and people would RMT the tokens forward etc.

Think of gold and silver coins RL, they weren't useful but still had value. So even expiring tokens may have value just because.

Now if I could only get 10 sheep to stand still long enough to roll a "ball" at them and go bowling.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Not long, they had it by the time I joined at least, and that was over ten years ago. And for most of those ten years, browsers didn't go 'YOU ARE BEING HACKED!!111' upon visiting the HTTPS site (in addition to nobody actually caring about HTTPS and just using HTTP for most things even when HTTPS was available).

But the bigger difference is that one leads to a loss of value (as in, they've spent real cash and are now in part losing what they purchased, which people will very clearly notice), whereas the other only causes loss of value in Shubla's very theoretical situation of someone setting up a targeted MITM to catch a player who's connecting to the site for the first time on their device (or in the later years, for the first time in that session, thanks Google), something which has never ever occurred in the history of Haven.

Yes the best way to do security is to assume that nothing bad would ever happen, after all its very rare.

They had it the whole time, chrome and other modern browsers just refuse to acknowledge self-certs.

I hope you're wearing your tinfoil hat right now, just in case the government is trying to control you using mind control waves. I mean, it's better than not addressing that unlikely possibility, right?

Are you claiming that the benefits of HTTPS aren't all that? You know that every single HTTP request you're sending your auth cookies in the clear and every time you log in you're sending your password in the clear. About ten years ago, when sites were using still dumb and using HTTP, you could go on any public network and hijack people's facebook sessions like it was nothing. It was stupid, so people started using HTTPS for everything that required any type of auth.

A lot of fighters are outlawed, since fighting makes you outlawed lmao

I feel like you should write a siege guide for the wiki, I'm sure mvguili-whatever-his-name would accept it.
