More player autonomy and letting people control their environment in a sandbox game seems rly good to me. The thing I don't like about it is the general development pattern of:
1) add some bullshit that makes the game objectively worse (winter, realms, truffles, pepper, belt rework, sleds/skiis, whales, PVP archery)
2) people complain for literal years that this obviously very bad thing is bad
3) add a chore to circumvent the original mechanic that was identified as making the game worse almost immediately
4) things are worse than before the original implementation, but people are relieved that it's not as bad as before

Just admit when something didn't work and yeet it instead of wasting your time putting bandaids on bandaids on bandaids. You could just make winter not fuck over plowed tiles/trees, not freeze water more than 1-3 tiles out, and give sleds/skiis no passengers with normal but faster movement behaviors and winter would be fine even if kindof ugly.

Dude shut up! We're about 1 year away from getting some 2-part barely working assbackwards but "not as bad as before" implementation for disabling mining boulders!

Just eat the bugs and do the chores.

This one example of a patch that should not exist. Defeats the idea of winter completely, adds even more clutter to village and more chores.
Also, the timing of the patch couldn't be more wrong as most of my trees deded already

I think they're lying about chicken coops rabbit hutches etc unless it's a completely negligible radius

Thank you for posting this. Actual info is good, and the update caught us without sufficient mulch to do our own experiments.

I'd also like to know whether the mounds block passage - can hearthlings walk, ride, drag carts across mounds, or are they obstacles?

it does block, and it shows range before building

My two cents,

Make winter last, at least, 10 days
Stop growth of Decidious trees in winter and allow Evergreen trees to keep growing like normal
Remove recently added Mounds and make active claims irradiate heat instead
Increase Mammoth spawn rate on winter and allow them spawn on any snow tile
Add small chance of sleeping Bears spawning on burrows wich enrage when awakens

Also this: (yes, its from two worlds ago)
