A Plea for Moderation

I hate to inform you of this, but Haven is a very dramatic community. There's always some buzz about someone getting sieged or someone losing months of play time to one wrong swim. This is why picking the right moderator is extremely important. Hands off with a sprinkle of justice is usually best.

Very much aware of that, but there is a difference between some juicy faction drama resulting in a thread or two and the drainpipe post quality seen on the forum recently. Pills seems neutral enough.

Ardennes is also super neutral and I don't think he is in any faction I know of. Never heard the dude even mention pvp or ingame politics in my life, and clearly he cares about the community because he runs a community discord and doesn't allow crazy drama shit like we see on this forum.

Neutral? Didn't i see ardennes name pop in the lynching thread? Yes we did.

This isn't even about how much damage one person can do, it's about constantly rewarding bad behavior.

Hey Jorb, Why do you think the 4channers in discord became bold enough to try to publically lynch Misa, creating the earlier shitshow? It's because you have been rewarding them nonstop in the past couple weeks. They kept winning over and over, and eventually deluded themselves into believing that they could make you do literally anything. I don't know if it's from your fear of steam not being a success, but it's more than a little feeble of you.

After a copious amount of popcorn, reading through all the Insight inducing posts in this thread, touching upon the surface of degeneracy expose, and days of worthless AND mentally degrading rants.
I have come to a single conclusion.

I pity whoever gets to moderate some of these people.

Just out of curiosity, what happened to the old mods like potjeh? Did they also get nonindy'd or did they resign? I would like to see a return of those mods if possible. At the very least we know they won't abuse their powers.

Give mod to a bunch of dudes like Potjeh who barely post and are barely invested, at least the sum of each of them occasionally browsing would clean out the worst posts

I nominate Delamore. He has a public history of being critical of me, which should satisfy the skeptics. That said, I've never seen anything but well reasoned opinions and general skepticism from him. I don't mind someone who has a history of being adverse to me personally. This isn't about faction favoritism, it's about having a relatively clean forum again.

I'm not interested in being a mod and I don't even play I just want to witness how the steam launch and run up to it goes. Might play again after a few more wipes of updates and changes, who knows.
It really would be nice if the forums did get cleaned up into something nicer to read before the launch, even when I was playing the forums were almost entirely useless with the amount of white noise and relatively little else.

I know laissez faire has been the rule/norm for so long but the forums are so inactive and a huge portion of what activity exists is just whitenoise or trolling, maybe some harder rules about post quality would help. (maybe the current rules do cover this they're just unenforced)
There's always other places like discord or whatever for that free laissez faire posting to exist anyway.
