The best part is that this was suddenly added in an update and people who don't check the forums (presumably including all players who do not speak English) find out about this the hard way. Already heard from someone who got it without knowing it existed, and he'll probably die from it if it is as severe as reports in this thread imply.

The devs' new strategy for reducing server lag seems novel, but effective.

Ugh... at least we don't need to worry about spruce caps settling near swamps?? Right?? :?

This new type of wound will just kill the game faster than it should.
New players will just don't understand what is happening and you'll lose them and their friends. In a long term, it means death for the game. Not being userfriendly shouldn't mean unplayable for a newcomer.
Not talking about more experienced players not being able to forage candleberries anymore... In Haven, you have to rush the 1st week or you are just screwed by new additions.

Remove the new swamp wound or at the very least make it impossible to get if you're boating the swamp. Really dumb addition that makes life harder for no real reason

You guy aren't considering the defensive possibility! If I am getting chased by big, strong fighter and I am lowly hermit then I will head directly for a swamp and they can die with me :D

Unless they learn to start foraging using expendable alts, which is what this design seems intended to encourage.

You're joking, right? It takes 640 PER*EXP to see all Candleberries. Put a pair of glasses on an alt, give it some equipment with Leather Patches and you can get all of them with a fresh alt + discovery LP. The alt will return alive to bring back the equipment before dying to Swamp Fever. This is just extra tedium for experienced players.
