Hello.

At begin of winter i tryed to save my crops and trees by compost bins, cauldrons and fireplace.
Seems that firing cauldrons and compost bins don't affect on crops (even 1 tile). But fireplace affect (about 3-5 tiles).

But compost bins saved my trees with 1 tile radius.

Btw... let winter be winter! No crops, no green houses.

ehh i dont like this mechanic. either just make seasons pure aesthetic with seasonal rewards that encourage exploration or make them a painful hazard we have to avoid, not this weird in-between.
see homo sexuality trending,. do not do that.

aw mounds are amazing useful, and oddly satisfying to watch, too bad paranoid competition will kill it like many other cool stuff

imo Greenhouse best value was always its visual, you can probably build some crazy larp with that

Beehives still remain frozen while within a heat radius, not sure if that is intended behaviour or not.

i like the idea of a buildable mound for those who *NEED* to have a couple crops going over winter but can't afford a greenhouse.
I like the idea of snow melting around heat sources.

I don't like the idea of permanent summer zones in those melted areas.
Winter isn't perfect but the change of pace is nice and there's a lot of silver linings to it. Being able to re-organize where my crops are planted all at once, as an example.

Here's what I would like to see next winter:

No crops.
Garden pots grow inside greenhouses.
Use heat to keep animals from dying.

I like it.
Greenhouses only for garden pots. Heat for animals. Trees = old mechanic.

lol heat for animals, what a great idea, but it needs to be linked to claim presence, so if animals die out just erase claim and all hearthfires within it

Here's an unnecessary heads up from a resident dumbshit: if you're going to try using a compost bin to thaw lake water (eg, to fish for a quest) try putting it on the shore next to the water. It can be set on the ice (wasn't sure if it would let me... it did) but immediately sinks and is lost forever.
For me, having my boats locked in the ice is what sucks the most about winter. I didn't settle on the ocean so I can't access the ocean with my snekkja. I happened to be out questing (Nomad) when winter rolled in, and couldn't fast travel back to my dock (until I logged on a separate char and chopped out ice.) Now I'm ice-bound. Stuff like that.
