"ruins" isn't quite accurate. Personal claims do not decay naturally as the modern "presence" system was a hafen (3d/w8/2015) addition, and vclaims seem to be sticking around as well.

Without citizens to defend them these settlements could be manually destroyed, one by one, by a committed and skilled enough player or group. However a great many bases and villages still exist in approximately the same form as they did in 2014, and so mar the landscape and limit access to key resources for newer players

they are not expensive, especially considering how much faster you get LP in legacy

how many resources does it block anyway? does area of the villages even take 0,1% of the world's area? looks like they can get key resources elsewhere

I don't think that villagers from former villages have paved the whole world

also villages might hold some nice loot

Are you using a custom client?
You're getting an error for gold, resource not found when trying to fetch it from the server
Or something about the SSL certificate? (not an issue on your side)

I'm only using the link provided from this post, java is updated.
