hermits will cry on the forums for 100 pages instead of just going and playing stardew valley with their friends (oh wait) like they should've a decade ago when they decided to play haven.
"B-b-b-b-b-b-but haven is unique and there is nothing else like it" that's true for some people, but is it that unique for people who don't really compete or engage in pvp with others, or even play it with friends? If we dumb it down to the ideal hermit game we'd get a singleplayer survival with an option to invite people to your base (like in hello kitty adventure time). I simply don't believe people who play it for PvE/or that want it to be a singleplayer game (with coop) would be actually better off playing haven instead of the plethora of other survival games.
Want farm and chill? Stardew or one of the 100 clones it has, some even have boss fights and shit
Want to farm numbers in an mmo? Go play runescape you can flex your grind and more people actually give a shit
Want pvp without all the weird industry aspects that take weeks? Go play rust, don't like shooters? idfk im sure there is a rust clone without guns.
Want big scale pvp over a huge map that also has industry aspects? Foxhole or anvil empires when it comes out.

If you change the game to your liking it stops being unique because you hate all the things that are unique about it. Will it be a better game then despite losing it's uniqueness? Maybe? It might have more popular appeal but then again i don't think it would be enough to hold people interested for more than a few weeks once they realize it's same shit over and over for more and more diminishing returns where there really isn't a need to go over like 200 stats and 100ql stuff if you don't want to compete with the others.
And yeah haven has potentially 1000s of hours of "content" but it's not even like filler content in 3rd person rpgs nowadays where it's collect 150 of dinkerfluffins for an achievement, it's same thing over and over for months after like week 5 (IM BEING GENEROUS). Would you rather play 40h of amazing game or 1000h of chore simulator with no actual goal.
