Can we know what do you mean by a lot?

Single click on the belt - opens the window. Hover without click - works as it is now.

That would still be a regression compared to yesterday morning, just less of one.

I want the *small* UI element where I could right click on the belt, or drag items to or from my hands or my belt slot. I want it always present on screen, as it was yesterday (Ender's for sure, and *probably* also the official client). And I want right click to open the belt, just as right click opens chests, cupboards, boxes, etc., and just as it did yesterday morning.

Retraining my fingers to do the same old thing some new way is the thing I *hate* most about software updates; unless the new thing is massively better, changing a UI is IMO always a downgrade.

Yey, update!
Thank you :)

EDIT:
I really like the new UI for stacks, so clean and nice rounding

ThorleifCleaver wrote:Wow. I fired up the default client and this is, in fact, the way it works now. This is just plain idiotic. Why in the world would anyone want to be forced to open and keep open the equipment screen, just to access the belt through mouseover? That actively makes interfacing with the game worse, nigh unplayable. Consider reverting that aspect, if not most of this.

That's still a thing tho, when the hover inventory pops up, grab the border and undock it and it does stay open after relog.
When Jorb stated in the pre patch:
Jorb wrote:You can drag sub-inventories to detach them as traditional inventory windows.

I thought it was pretty obvious.

I personally would like those sub-inventories to have a slight delay to the pop up to prevent:

Toggle on auto stacks and being able to scroll stuff into inventories (stacked ores into smelters) would be nice.

These two are the big notes that need to be hit, I think. I'd also appreciate the ability to create stockpiles from stacks if possible, though just grabbing an item from within a stack to start a stockpile is admittedly not a huge ask, it does feel fiddly to me.

I did figure this out. I just don't like it. It's a tedious solution, when a right-click is just far simpler.

As Audiosmurf says, though, the inability to dump stacks into stockpiles without having to fiddle with sub-windows needs to be addressed. I'd prefer to just turn off stacks and/or autostacks entirely on my end, which would solve the interface problems cleanly, but if for some reason that can't happen, the stockpile issue needs to be fixed.

Also, why can't stacks be dissolved with a simple shift-right click? I have VASTLY more call to go through all items in a stack than to pull a single, random item. The shift-right click and shift-ctrl-right click functions should be reversed.

Finally, why ctrl instead of alt? I really don't get that. Maybe I'm missing something. My left ring and index naturally fall on shift and alt with just a minor dip from the home keys. Hitting shift and ctrl is awkward and unpleasant.

Ender's drink button (which doesn't work anymore) was so much better than this "drink on your hotkey belt" bullshit...
