No seriously, what am I missing? Earlier leather would be a big deal. The only instant-leather hides take longer to dry than it would take to make leather. I know drying can be sped up by having a high quality drying frame, but there's no way you can get a high enough drying frame at this point to make that significant. As far as I'm aware there's no way to speed up tanning.

Captain obvious: "Untanned Rot" requires vinegar, so you can't use it to speed up the world first leather batch (unless there's some exploit to instantly turn apple/pearjuice into vinegar.)
