Game Development: Hat Placement

Postby jorb » Fri Nov 04, 2022 1:31 am

We've been developing, and here's what's new.

Image

New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Implemented the ability to put hats on large domesticated animals: pigs, goats, sheep, cattle, and horses. Milage may vary as the equipment point is not specialized per hat. Mostly for teh lulz. Let us know what else should have hats, because we can have them most anywhere now.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • Pushed a change to building placement outlined here. Hoping this covers all our use cases and is reasonably nice for everyone.
    • Building placement blueprints last until the construction sign is placed, rather than disappear when you click to place it.
    • Holding Shift while placing a building blueprint allows you to finely place (move it around in small steps), and finely rotate (rotate in small rotation steps), the building.
    • Holding Ctrl allows you to rotate the building, and walk with LMB.
  • Fixed bat dungeon map generator. Went over the code for generating them, and they should now hopefully avoid placing broken ridges. Notice that old dungeons may still be around generated with the old code. Let me know your mileage on this.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • Adjusted Cheese Timers. Cheese should now no longer begin to transform again without being replaced in a rack. I.e. all cheese stages are stable until you replace the trays in racks. Inspired by this.
  • Increased metal nugget stockpile size from 25 to 35.

As always, if you liked what we did here: Support the patch.

Today's Patch Item, for the fair price of $9 is the "Leopard Cavalier".

Store Description wrote:Image$9 This suave hat stalks the concrete jungle, eager to devour any prey quivering in the night.

All Gold & Silver subscribers have been awarded the "Leopard Cavalier", free of charge.

In the Pipe
-----------------------
  • Looking to shift the standard patch-day to Tuesdays. Pushing a patch here this week to space it out a little.
  • Thinking a fair bit about making winter a smoother experience.
  • Again urging any custom client maker who wishes to stay relevant to get with the new rendering times. Support for the old resources will be dropped at some point.
  • Our primary development direction is toward object-controlled-objects.
  • Time to... like us on Facebook?
  • Time to... follow us on Twitter?

Enjoy!

Chickens & squirrels. Turtles too. Mostly because a swarm of chickens with tiny felt hats running amuck would be hilarious. Placing hats on boar, moose, & bears would also be great.

Hey nice patch, also like with the change for metal nugget stockpile, consider increasing capacities of other stockpiles like flax etc, hurts noone and benefits everyone!
