New World Launch
-----------------------
- Tonight we end World 16.1 and launch a new world in its stead, W16.2, as first announced here! World 16 continues uninterrupted.
- Worlds 16 and 16.2 will run concurrently until further notice.
- The choice on which world to play will be made with the Wizard during character creation.
- We have made no changes which should impair custom clients.
- This post contains an updated, non-exhaustive, change log. Much has been left to the joy of discovery.
Payment Model
-----------------------
- Nine new hats have/will been/be added to the store! Thank you for your consideration!
- All Bronze subscribers will be given the "Dark Tricorne" hat, free of charge. All Silver subscribers will additionally be given the "Popcorn Hat". All Gold Subscribers will additionally be given the "Honeypot Hat".
Changes Only Applying to W16.2
-----------------------
- Map & Time
- Single spawn continent
- Time factor has been restored, relative to World 16.1, to 1.0, same as on World 16. Wounds, however, heal faster than even on World 16.1.
- PvP
- Removed the rule, active in World 16.1, by which it was possible for a character to pass through gates while in combat if not having bought the "Rage" skill. It is, in 16.2, quite simply, not possible to pass through gates while in combat.
- It is no longer possible to enter locked houses while in combat.
- Entering a house/pocket world will no longer initiate the timed dropping of combat relations with people outside of the house/pocket world. Combat relations are maintained over world boundries as per normal, provided you remain close enough to maintain them. Note that animals will still drop combat relations as per usual.
- Private Claims are, when built, activated instantly, requiring Vandalism to destroy, and extending crime protection to their initial 5x5 area. Private Claims cannot, however, be extended before their normal activation timer runs out.
- Stolen items can no longer be tracked. This as they were mostly used as tracking devices.
- Reduced the cost of "Rage" from 50k LP to 10k. Suggested here
- Hunger
- Hunger is reduced once weekly, on Fridays, 19:00 UTC.
- The amount reduced is now, additionally, determined as a function of your distance to the highest character attribute server lead. Your reduction is highest on a new character, and lowest on the server lead.
- All hunger reductions, including those from Questing and Salt, are affected by the distance-to-server lead modifier.
- Suggested here
- Fast Travel
- Travel weariness is turned off entirely in 16.2.
- Travel to the Ring of Brodgar is always available, from anywhere, in 16.2.
- Thingwall knowledge is shared with party members. You may, thus, travel to neighboring Thingwalls if someone in your party knows them, even if you do not.
- Gilding
- Scrapped most of the changes from World 16.1, apart from the change by which higher tier clothes/gear have more uses/chances at succeeding with Gilding. The system is essentially the system currently in World 16.
- Mining
- "Stone Axe" has a mining quality modifier of 0, and will, effectively, always count as Q10 for purposes of determining mining quality.
Additional Changes Also Affecting W16
-----------------------
- Nothing to report. New content may be pushed over as discovered on 16.2.
In the Pipe
-----------------------
- Many of you have decided to use the store since we announced World 16.2, and we are very grateful for this. Thank you for supporting us, and the game.
- Object-Controlled-Objects remains the primary development goal.
- I may update this post with answers to question that may come up, and edits for clarity, or whatever.
We are on track to start the server at 19:00 UTC, and aim to do so.
The best of luck in World 16.2, and...
ENJOY!
