Problem building gates

I have all the conditions met. Two tiles in between two cornerposts. Paved ground. Everything.

Yet for some reason, when I try to build a palisade gate, I get "You cannot build that there."

I've had other people place the gate for me. It seems to be only I who cannot build them.

I believe there's a problem with the gates' bounding box. Have you tried paving the 8 tiles besides the gate, as others have asserted have made it work for them?
