I find it fascinating that this computer with its 8 gigs of ram is brought to its knees by a 2d game

Really, I get like 2 frames a second with a GTX 220 nvidia graphics card.

In all likelihood it isn't the CPU but where do I go from here? I've never had this issue before with any other online games written in java, so I'm utterly clueless.

Would really like to try this game out properly, thanks in advance. Oh and :fs 1 is just a white screen.

make sure you have the latest version of your video card manufacturer's drivers, especially if you are running windows 7. the windows 7 default video drivers cause all sorts of problems with this game.

Eish, I was just about to go Windows 7... but I'm enjoying this game so much I'll hang onto my XP a while longer then.

oh don't get me wrong, windows 7 is a huge improvement over xp, just make sure you download and install the video card drivers from the manufacturer (nvidia, ati, etc) and it will work just great

Nvidia/ati have windows 7 drivers, all other drivers that work on vista generally work on windows 7, that said.

This game managed to freeze my OS a few times.
